A representative from Historic Landmarks for Living will be at the Information Center to answer questions and to show plans for the conver- sion of the old Silk Mill into apartments. Another example of ‘‘ad- aptive use’’ is Gothic Lofts, the condominium project underway at old Zion Marietta Day (cont.) Lutheran Church on Walnut Street. One unit is nearing completion and will be open to the public. For the children, there will be a roving clown, a magic show, and a sidewalk chalk art contest. Activities will be concen- trated in the business district, so South Market Street will be closed to traffic from the S-bend to Perry Street. Residents of that area will be asked to move their cars off the street for that day. MRA to hear G. Lestz The program for this month’s regular meeting of the Marietta Restoration Associates, to be held May 15 in the Community House, will be presented by Mr. Gerald Lestz, well-known writer, publisher, and bus- inessman. ‘“Exploring Old Lancaster County’’ is the title of his presentation, which is based around a slide show high- lighting the county’s archi- tectural heritage. Mr. Lestz is probably best known for ‘“The Scribbler” column which he wrote, for many years, in the Lan- caster New Era, and for Bare’s Almanac, which he ‘Know your community’ edits. He has displayed his broad knowledge of Lancas- ter County history in publications too numerous to list here. He and his wife, Margaret Dana Lestz (retired head of Interior Design at Arm- strong and a well known artist) are among Lancas- ter’s most avid patrons of the arts, but have a special fondness for the county’s architectural masterpieces. The program will be presented at 7:30. It will be followed by the regular business meeting, at which plans will be finalized for May 17, Marietta Day. The public is invited to attend. BPW discussion topic “Know Your Commun- ity’’ is the subject of a panel discussion to be held at the May 19 meeting of the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club. The session will be held at Hostetters Banquet Hall, and 26 organizations have been invited to attend. Reservations may be placed with Mary Bookwalter at 653-2361 by May 10. Moderator for the panel will be Virginia Horst, a member of the Mount Joy Borough council. Bruce Hammer, Mount Joy bor- ough manager, Nancy Bromer, publisher of the Susquehanna Times, school board member Patricia Eicherly, and Earl Koser, president of the Chamber of Commerce, are the other members of the panel. Special music will be presented by Romayne Bridgett. Members and organiza- tions have been requested to submit in writing subjects or questions they would like to have discussed or answered.
