Donegal business students are secretaries for one day To celebrate National Secretaries Day, Wednes- day, April 23, senior business students at the Donegal High School were ‘‘secretaries’’ for the high school faculty. The stu- dents’ jobs included typing, filing, correcting papers, duplicating work, and other clerical work. Sudents involved in this project were from the clerical office practice and stenography II classes. They included: Carol Anspach, Eliza Bote, Tracy Brady, Sherri Brackbill, Susan Brocious, Colleen Brubaker, Kathy Condon, Patricia Cranford, Tammy Eberly, Pamela Ebersole, Debbie Fernandez, Terry Fincher, Shirley Fready, Jenny Freed, Connie Frey, Sharon Gehman, Shari Geib, Mar- tha Gohn, Renetta Gruber, Mary Jane Haldeman, Cin- dy Heagy, LaRue Hess, Thomas Markley, Tracey Maxwell, Margaret Meszar- os, Vicky Noll, Lee Ani Ober, Brenda Poston, Beth Prowell, Susan Rogers, Robin Snyder, Tamela Ste- phens, Ann Wilkinson, Tanya Witmer, Donna Zel- ler, Jennifer Pietsch, Sharon Hershey and Mikki Max- well. Wendy Weller and Beth Gainer in summer Girl Scout program Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council, Inc. and Donegal Neighborhood are pleased to announce that two girls have been selected as participants in Wider oppor- tunities and another girl was selected as an alternate. Wendy Weller has been chosen to attend ‘‘Saddle Straddle,”” a horseback riding event at National Center West in Ten Sleep, Wyoming. There are 160 participants in this event. Wendy will have the chance to sharpen her horseback riding skills while preparing for an extended pack trip to remote areas of the Center. Yvonne Lightner is an alternate to ‘‘Saddle Straddle’’ at National Cen- ter West. Beth Gainer has been chosen to attend ‘‘Kansas Sampler’’ in Topeka, Kan- sas. There are 60 partici- pants in this event. The event samples the heritage and lifestyles of Kansas. She may taste the life as a pioneer traveling across the Flint Hills in a covered **. wagon; visit'a modern cattle ranch, or hold a day camp for children of migrant farm workers. Wendy, Yvonne and Beth have been active in Girl Scouting. They are mem- bers of Senior troop #944 in Mount Joy They have served as program aides at Donegal Day camp during the summer. All three girls have attained the rank of First Class, the hightest award for a girl in Girl Scouting. Donegal Neighborhood is proud to have these girls represent Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council in the Wider Opportunity program. Marietta Rec. Assoc. sponsors Baby Contest There is still time for parents to register their children in the Baby contest, sponsored by the Marietta Recreation Association. The only requirements are that a photo not larger than S x 7 be submitted, the baby must live within the Marietta Boro limits, and be under four years of age. Persons hoping to register after SPM at 426-2268. Vickie Carroll is co-chair- person of the contest. The photos will be placed in merchant’s shops, where votes at 1 cent each can be cast for your favorite child. The winners of King and Queen of the Fair will receive a $25 Savings account from Central Sav- ings and Loan. All contest- + - childeen-may call Sue. Clark, ants will receive a prize. . . Chambersburg Steel Band at Donegal The Chambersburg Area High School Steel Band under the direction of Lynn Lerew will present three concerts in Donegal District this Wednesday, April 30th. At 11AM, the 30 mem- bers will perform at the Riverview Elementary School; at 1PM they - will perform at the Wilbur I. Beahm Junior High School; and 2PM at the Donegal High School. All perform- ances are free and the public is invited to attend. The Steel Drum sound of the Islands is typical only of that area and is quite a treat for this locale.
