The event is the Lancaster Music Teachers Associa- tion’s celebration of the beginning of National Music Week, May 4 through 11. The public concert will feature 190 musicians per- forming on 12 pianos. The pianists, who will be seated two, and in some composi- tions, three to a piano, are students of member teach- sponsoring music and Mount Joy, Lancaster’s ers of the organization. College Emphasis Sun. at Florin C. of Brethren Saint-Saens and **Argentin- The Florin Church of the Brethren, 815 Bruce Ave., Mount Joy, will be observ- ing College Emphasis Sun- day on May 4 with special guest speaker Dr. Mark Ebersole, President of Eliza- bethtown College. A group from the college will provide special music for the worship service, which begins at 10:10 am. Cross Roads Brethren to present the film Jill The Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy, will present the film Jill Sunday, May 4, at 7:00 pm. The film is a documentary of a young Christian girl’s situation after she learns she has only a few months to live. The film is produced by Quadrum Communications. All are welcome. The program will open with a group of 36 pianists performing ‘‘America the Beautiful’’ by Samuel Ward, adapted by Jonathan Aaber and ‘‘Waltz’’ by Noel-Benford. Groups of 24 pianists will perform ‘“Chester’’ by Billings-Gun- ther and ‘‘The Entertainer’’ by Joplin-Marwick/Nagy, in addition to compositions by Bastien and Kraehenbuehl. These players range in age from first grade through junior high school. A group of high school students will play a move- ment of a Beethoven Sonata, a Bach Gavotte and a Moszkowski Waltz. Another group will play a Mozart Minuet and a humorous selection, ‘“The Cat and The Mouse,’’ by George Anson. A college group will play ‘‘Malaguena’’ by Lecuona and the 18th variation from ‘‘Rapsodie on a Theme of Paganini’’ by Rachmanin- off. Also appearing on the program will be a group of the sponsoring teachers with ‘‘Pas Redouble’’ by ian Rhapsody’ by Frank Sanucci. For the first time this year, an instrument other than piano will be included in the program. Eighteen flutists will interpret ‘‘Shim- mering Flutes’’ by Cacavas and ‘‘The Penny-Whistle Song’’ by Leroy Anderson, accompanied by four pian- ists. The $2.50 donation gener- al admission tickets are available from any of the performers and sponsors. Proceeds after expenses will go to the organizations student scholarship fund.
