George Leyh Jr. of Mount Joy, Pa., recently participated in two weeks of active duty training with the 1185th U.S.Army Transit Control Unit at the Military Traffic Manage- ment Command’s Military Ocean Terminal, Bayonne, N.J. Leyh was commissioned through the ROTC program. He received a master’s degree in 1973 from Gordon- Conwell Seminary, South Hamilton, Mass. Leyh is a teacher at the Lancaster Christian School. The officer and his wife, Sandra, live in Mount Joy. His mother, Mrs. Wilhel- mine Leyh, lives at 6320 Sunnybrook Ave., Flour- town, Pa. §8§ Angela Miller Angela Miller partici- pated in the Spring Recital of the Pofahl School of Dance Arts. The recital was held on Saturday, May 26, at Gainesville High School, Gainesville, Florida. The recital theme was ‘‘Alice in Wonderland.”’ Angela danc- ed in the matinee and evening performance in a ballet and a tap dancing number. Pofahl’s Studio is the resident school of the Gainesville Civic Ballet and also the professional touring company Dance Alive. Angela, formerly of Mount Joy, is ten years old. She will enter the fifth grade next fall at Glen Springs Elementary School. She is a member of the Holy Faith Catholic Church. She has studied dance for seven years. Angela and her brothers, Steve and Greg, live with their parents David and Catherine Miller at 3541 N.W. 34th Place, Gaines- ville, Florida. §8§ Bruce Alan Neyer, son of Mr. & Mrs. William P. Neyer Jr. of 306 Birchland Ave., Mount Joy, a junior at Bob Jones University, made the Dean’s list during the second semester. §§§ §§§ Lester Dimeler won a 10- speed bike, donated by Mummau’s Firestone, for selling 171 Bar-B-Que tickets for the MJAA. §§§ Mr. & Mrs. George F. Waller, 20 W. Elizabeth St., Maytown, were honored at a family dinner Sunday, June 10, at Three Center Square Restaurant, Maytown, in celebration of their S0th wedding anniversary. Following the dinner, they were greeted by approximately 150 relatives and friends at a surprise drop-in party held in the Maytown United Church of Christ and hosted by their children. The couple was married June 15, 1929, in Martins- burg, by the Rev. Steinberg. They are the parents of two daughters, Patricia, wife of Russel L. Shope, Marietta, and Jane, wife of Wilmer E. Dick, Millersville. There are four grandchildren. Mr. Waller is a retired federal employe and is a member and past Master of Ashara Lodge F & AM, Marietta. His wife is a retired school teacher and is a member of Donegal Chapter No. 422, O.E.S. Both enjoy Senior Citizen and NAREF activities. Mitchell E. Nissley, of 612 Wood Street, Mount Joy, made the dean’s list at Rensslaer Polytechnic Insti- tute. Erdman of 96 Chestnut Street, Marietta, recently graduated from the York Academy of Arts, with honors. Wayne studied graphic design, advertising, photo- graphy, illustration, typo- graphy, and film/TV tech- niques at York. He was the recipient of a scholarship when he grad- uated from Donegal High School in 1976. He plans on a career in graphic design. §§§ / Obituaries E. ELLSWORTH BRANDT E. Ellsworth Brandt, 80, of 144 South River Street, Maytown, died at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in East Donegal Township, a son of the late Elmer E. and Mary Smyser Brandt. He was the husband of the late Florence Ney Brandt, who died in 1975. A former employee of Olmstead AFB, he lived in the Maytown area all his life. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Maytown, and the Ashara Lodge 398, Free and Accepted Masons, Marietta. He was a past master and past secretary of the lodge, and a 32nd degree Mason. He also held a membership in the Zembo Temple of Harrisburg and the Lancas- ter Lodge of Perfection. He was the last of his } immediate family. WEIRICH INFANT Robert Scott Weirich, the infant son of Charla R. Andrews and Robert Weir- ich, 460 E. Front Street, Marietta, died at the Hershey Medical Center, less than a day after his birth at the Columbia Hospital. Besides his mother and father, he is survived by a maternal great-grandmoth- er, Viola Rapp, Marietta; paternal grandparents Ruth and Clyde Andrews, Sr., Marietta; and a paternal great-grandmother, Trudy Weirich of Lancaster.
