This event is held to help the contestants further their educations. This year the pageant will be held on June 23rd at 8:00 PM at the Donegal High School Auditorium. Tickets are available from Bob Hoffer (653-5958) or any member of the Mount Joy Jaycees. The price of the tickets is $2.50 for adults, $1.50 for students. They will be available at the door also. Seven girls are participat- ing in the pageant. They are: Janet Adrian, the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Brown 48 E. Market Avenue, Mount Joy; and Jacquee Zeller, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zeller of 122 No. Barbara Street, Mount Joy. 1st graduation ceremony at Riverview Elementary The first annual gradua- tion of the sixth grade classes at Riverview Ele- mentary School was held in the school auditorium on Thursday, May 31st, at 7:00 PM. Mr. John Sauter, the principal at Riverview, talked to the students and their parents. Awards for Safety Patrol, chorus, handwriting, and MS Readathon were pre- sented to those students who had earned them. A band award was also presented. Each student was given a diploma by Mr. Sauter and the home room teacher. Refreshments were serv- ed to the students and their families. The graduation was spon- sored by the Riverview ‘“Pact’” committee. It will continue as a tradition at the school. Union National throws open house party at new branch office Next Saturday Union National Mount Joy Bank is opening a new branch office in Salunga, and you're invited. The open house celebra- tion will take place at the new office, 190 Stony Battery Road, Salunga, starting at 9:00 AM. There will be gifts, door prizes, and refreshments. The open house will last until 5:00. Market Avenue, Mount Joy, died last Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Mount Joy. He was the son of Abram B. and Betty Herr Groff of Mount Joy. He was a member of the Mount Joy Mcnnonite Church. Surviving him, besides his parents, are two brothers: Charles M. Groff of Mount Joy, and Robert T. Rote of RD3 Mount Joy; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elias H. Groff of Lancaster RD6; paternal great-grandfather, Cyrus Bomberger of Manheim; John H. Groff and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence N. Herr of RD1 Ronks.
