This year’s event will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilkes- Barre /Scranton International Air- port and the United States Air ° Force 50th Anniversary. Armed Forces Air Show ‘97 will feature the world famous U.S. Air force “Thunderbirds” Air Demon- stration Squadron. The Thunder- ‘birds squadron is an Air Combat Command unit comprised of eight pilots. The F-16 fighting Falcon is a compact multirole fighter air- craft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air and air-to-surface attack. Also featured will be the U.S. Army “Golden Knights” Parachute Team. As a special tribute to the U.S. Air Force 50th Anniversary, Armed Forces Air Show ‘97 will also fea- ture World War II bombers in a formation mock airfield attack along with a spectacular pyro- technic demonstration.
