The Dallas Post Writers read works at Author's Tea Third-graders at Wyoming Seminary’s Lower School, Forty Fort, recently held an “Author's Tea” for parents, grandparents and friends. Students read stories and poems which they had written about their studies throughout the year. Works covered such diverse topics as butterflies, holidays around the world, Native - American culture, and famous African-American leaders. Each student read his or her work and displayed art related to their writing. That wouldn't be the case if we weren't puting on a good event.” In addition, many of the volun- teers are repeat performers. “Our volunteers know they're impor- tant and they're treated well,” said Harris. “Every racer knows that they must be polite to the volun- teers. You can yell at a race official and you might get disqualified, but if you yell at a volunteer, you won't be welcomed back next year.” This year, Harris expects 300 to 350 individual competitors along with 70 teams and 20 pro- fessional participants. Individual prizes are awarded by age group and sex with the top male and female finisher earning $2,500.
