Women’s Club names art contest winners The Harveys Lake Women's Service Club a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs recently announced the winners of the club’s annual Stu- dent Arts Competition. This year the categories were short stories, poetry and jazz dance. The win- ners in each category will compete in the State Federation of Arts’ Contest to be held in April. In the short story category (grades 1-38) first place winner was Andrea Steele of Ross Elementary; second place, Jenna Casaldi of Lake-Noxen Elementary; third place, Sarah Davis of Lehman- Jackson Elementary. In the short story category (grades 4-6), first place winner was ‘Nathan Bendick of Lehman- Jackson; second place, Nicki Fal- lon of Lehman-Jackson; third place, Laura Castellano, Lehman- Jackson. In the poetry category (all grade levels), first place winner was Melissa Ann Mitchell of Lake- Noxen; second place, Carrie Race of Lehman-Jackson; third place, Kelly Wagner, Lake-Noxen Elemen- tary. In the student jazz competition the winner was Winter Rusiloski of Lehman-Jackson Elementary. The students were honored at a Special Awards Ceremony at the Lake-Noxen Elementary School by the Harveys Lake Women's Service Club. Dallas quiz bowl champions Recently teams of sixth graders from the Dallas Middle School competed in the second annual Thinking Cap Bowl. The contest consisted of a battery of computer tests in the areas of social studies, grammar, math, science, music, sports and trivia. The winning team was coached by Mrs. The statewide competition was given to all participating fifth and sixth graders on February 19. Rural Health donates tooth kits Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Monroe-Noxen Health Center recently donated tooth preserving systems to the Dallas Senior High School to celebrate National Children’s Dental Health month. The kits can be used in the event of an injury involving a broken tooth.
