Nicholas Kiteinger to live with him as his "'slow" without the usual formalities. They lived together as man and wife for several • years, until four children bad been added to ' their family. The man then finding times be ginning to get hard, ran off to this country. After, waiting hi return for a long while, the woman also came over, and settled in Cincin- Judi, but heard nothing of her guali-husband until about a year ago, when he uneiptedly turned np"," and proposed to again resu me the • 'tender relations which had existed between _ them in " Faderland." The woman consented, and the two lived together very happily for a year, when.another "olive branch" was added torbe quartette already mentioned. This not altogether unexpected circumstance did - not seem to gratify the male partner of the firm, and he departed suddenly for this city. The woman, determined not to be a second time humbugged, followed him, but after an ineffec . Anal search over the city was compelled to make the'case known to 'Squire Parkinson, who, with ' "the aid of an officer, quickly brought the alleged truant lover "up to the rack." But here ' another difficulty sprung ap ; although the wo-. , man-swore positively to his identity, the man --asserted that be had never known her in Ger many, and that his acquaintance did not date further back than six menthe. The woman, however, stuck pertinaciously to her statement, and the 'Squire, not anticipating such a defence, adjourned the case'over until Saturday in order that he might get further evidence, bat then finding that he could not arrive at a satisfactory decision, concluded to let Judge iki'Clure un ravel the difficulty, and accordingly held Nicho las to bail to appear at next term of Court. OnsrauerivE RAIN STORM. —On Saturday night this city and country adjoining was visited by one of the most• destructive rain storms which has occurred here for many years. The " window° of heaven " seemed to be opened to their widest extent, and for about three hours the water came down in a regular Niagara tor rent. Quite a number of accidents and inci dents occurred. A house on Pennsylvania Avenue, near the tunnel, was swept away, and completely destroyed by the water, the inhab itants barely escaping with their lives. Tho paper mill of Mr. James Shidle, on the same Avenue, was overflowed by tho torrents which came down Elm street, and a large quantity of paper destroyed. Other houses were also in vaded by the water, and furniture and property destroyed. The Allegheny river reso suddenly nevetal feet, and started adrift about two hun dred rafts, which were mostly wrecked on the piers of the different bridges. Fears are also entertained that great damage has been done -to the cape, as the rain appears to have been as heavy allover the country. • ACCIDENT On Tug 0. & P. RAILEOAD—CnS OFF TOE Tmacx.—The heavy rains of Saturday . night washed away the track of the Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad, in several places, and caused a serious accident to the Express train dee here at eight o'clock in the evening. The fire, it appears, originated from a bottle of vitriol packed in the hold, which, by some accident, was upset and broken. In descending to extinguish it, one of the bards of the boat, named James Hayman, inhaled a quantity of the vapor arising from the Lyn .1, and after lingering in great agony, died at Marine Hospital on Saturday morning. . As the liquid which caused this sad accithat was placed on the boat by a merchant of V:lfs city contrary to the steamboat lax of August I.Bs2;Jreitig simply marked "Acid," and en ter rd tie other merchandise, it is the Intention of the lospectOr of the Port to prosecute. Da, KENNEDY, of 'Roxbury, has discovered In one of cur common p-astrire weals a remedy that cures EVERY KIND DE HUMOR, From the worst Ecroflula down to a common pimple. Ete has tried it in over 1103 cases, and never failed except in two cases, (both thunder humor). Be hat now in.his poseeFsion over too hundred cartificatesof its virtue, all within twenty miles of Boston. Two bottle,' are warranted to cure a nursing core mouth. One to three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pimples on the face Two to three bottles will clear the system of Blles. The bottles are warranted to cure the worst Canker in the Mouth and Stomach. Three to fire bottles are warranted to cure the worst enE9 of EryaipcLas. One to Viso bottles are warranted to cure all . 11umor in the byes. Two bottles are warranted to euru Running of the. Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the worst case of Ringworm. Two to thres bottles are warranted to care the most des perate case of Rheumatism. . 'Leader, I peddled over a thousand bottles'of this in the vicinity of Boston. I know the effect of It in every ease ho sum as water will extinguish fire,so sure will this cure humor. I never sold is bottle of it but that sold another; alter a trial, it always speaks for itself. There are two thinip about this herb that appear to me surprising: first, that it grows to our pastures; in some places quite plenti ful, and yet its value hos never been known mann discov ered it In 1343—second, that it should core all kinds of humor. In order to give some idea ordthe sudden rise and great popularity of the discovery, I,wiil state that inApril,lB.s3, I peddled it and sold about six bottles per day—in April, 1854, I sold over one thousand bottles per day of it. Some of the whotesale druggists, who have been in busi- ness twenty and thirty years, esy that nothingin the annals of patent medicines was ever like it. There is a universal praise of It from all quarters. In my own practice I always kept it strictly fur humors, but since its introduction as a general family medicine, great and wonderful virtues have been found In It that I neverouspected. Several manor epileptic tits—a disease which was always corialdered Incurable—have been cured by a few bottles; 0, what a merry If It will prose effectual in all cases of that awful, malady; there are but few who haSe seen more of it than I have. -- I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of them aged peo ple, - nred hilt. We have seen the testimony of persons well known to us, who have used the compound successfully; thereby corroborating the opinion or its restorative ener gy . We know of nothing more desirable pi the way of per , . eonal comeliness and comfort.than a poi head of hair, and soy process by which this crowning ornament of the outer non can be preserved, or recovered when lost, without, in the latter case, a resort to Wigs; Toupes' and scratches, de." scrves to be hailed and embraced with gratitude by alt of either sex, who are unlucky enough to Ileddite benefit. We took- occasion the other day to notice this veinal/7o compound in the above terms, and now republish what Fag then said, to show egatu our favorable Opinion of it.- The foregoing is taken from the Petersburg (Virginia: Ink Wonder, and refers to an article which has for a time been advertised in our columns, We must confess that we have been somewhat sceptical as to the remarkable effects attributed to this famous "Hair Restorer." lint oar in• credulity has been greatly shaken. within a day or two by seeing a couple of certificates of well-known and perfectly credible citizens of the neighboring town of Preston—one of them the Captain of a New London whaling ship—to the effect that, in each of these cases, a two or three mont l4 nee of the "Restorer" had actually brought oat a new and rigatoni growth of hair upon the head where it was before bald—the baldness being, in one cage, of more than twenty years ettmding. W. do not suppose it is by any means air. lain that, because the application has been thus successltd in: one case, or two, or a dozen, it hi therefore certain to prove equally suceesefial in all. But with such head-strawy evidence as the foregoing, very few bald heads, we suspect, would willingly forego a fair trial of the " Reatz F es.,, such "old heads" are Informed that the article can baked at Messrs.
