Yesterday afternoon the veterans of the 101 d (old 13th) Regiment returned to the seat of war, their furloughs having expired. At an early boor in the afternoon, Wood street, in front of the headquarters of the regiment; was crowded with the friends and relatives of the members of the regiment, who had assem bled to bra them adieu. The street was blockaded by thousands of our citizens, and se the regiment moved to the depot, abont 4 o'clock, it was impossible to pass along the lhOroughfare. When the regiment arrived at • the railroad, station, Meaty street was im passible, the citizens thronging the street to bid goodbye to their soldier friends. We do not remember of ever ; seeing ea large a mood at the `rate to hid farewell to !our volunteer soldiers. The 1021 is a favorite Pittsburgh regiment, and our citizens showed yesterday. that their melees had been appreciated and held in remembrance. About half put four o'clock the train bearing the veterans moved off slowiy to the mmio of the brass band, and many an eye was wet and many a heart beat sadly atyrhat may be their list parting. This Is in accordance with Mr. Chase's wishes. Meanwhile, Mr. Brooks and the Blairs find aid for their effort to drive Mr. Chase from the Cabinet in another quarter. A comblos. lion of New York 'peculators, gold gamblers, disloyal bankers, eta., has been farmed to sestet in driving cut the man whose counte nance to office renders their calling to uncer tain. Bat for the earnest representation of leading public men, remonstrating with him against any Each course, Mr. Chase would have been very ready to gratify their wishes'. Hels still in Philadelphia on private holi ness, but it b known that nothing bat these earnest remonstrances kept him from resign ing, when the President appointed his calum niator in the How ditt Major General, and that the President -is still striving to explain to him that thledidn't mean anything. The mud dle is completed by the President's unlucky ottempt to couple Schenck with Blair. In cenvereation Mr. Schenck has been even more emphatic than he was yesterday, in the House, In flatly contradicting the President's state ment, an i has added that Mr. Lincoln was perfectly familiar with the facts, because they were all recapitulated to him In private- con venation three weeks ago. Thly is considered as raising a question of veracity between him and Mr. Lincoln, which Mr. Schenck .presses still further by demanding copies of the papers, notes end messages, which thc President refers to as 'attaining his Position. ramie etstea osas is rue Another phase of the irrepressible Frank Blair question raged, for hours, In the house to-day. Mr. McClurg replied to Mr. Blair's speech of last Saturday. Ile entered into minute examination of the testimony before the Investigetlng Committee, and bandrome ly 'hewed how very far short of exculpating Mr. Blair it had fallen. Ins speech wee throughout very bitter, and will here a dam aging effect on the fugitive Congressman and doubtful Major General. Mr. Blgby, of Cal- Jimmie, who was chairman - of the Investiga ting Committee, followed, denouncing Mr. Blair's speech, exposing the deliberate falsi refuting the slander that the man °barged with the forgery was a treasury agent, or in any way connected with Mr. Chase, and de nouncing Michael Power. as the forger, and raying he had wanted so to state In the re port.
