February 7, 1992 — LION'S EYE — Page 9 Paintings by Tatyana Zorina On Display in Campus Library / By Robin Longaker There is currently an exhibit of paintings by Tatyana Zorina on display in the Penn State Delco Library. The Friends of The Tim Mark Endowment are sponsoring this event, and 25% of the proceeds from the sale of Zorina’s paintings will be donated to their cause. Zorina Russian artist whose paintings depict scenes from her homeland. The art exhibit features a variety of oils and watercolors. It will be is ‘a well established . shown until February 20, during normal library hours. According to Dr. Cooper, Associate Professor of Biology at Delco, “This display is consistent with The Tim Mark Endowment because it provides emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit their work.” In addition, there is an upcoming art exhibit also sponsored by The Friends of the Tims 3iMark Endowment, which will feature over 70 artists from the area. Maggie Dear Maggie, Everyone refers to me as her sister instead of my own name. This really bothers me yet I don’t know: how to deal with it. I love my sister because she is a great person and friend to me but I can’t help but feel cheated. I don’t even think she realizes how I feel about what's going on. The quality that made the event so unique was that Mr. Coleman opened the floor to anyone who wished to volunteer their experiences; approximately 10 people contributed their thoughts. After the last speaker was seated, refreshments, which included ice cream and a birthday cake, were served. : Following the refreshments, participants viewed the inspiring “I have a dream” speech. The commemoration was held at 12:30 so that schedule conflict would not be a problem for students who wished to participate. The Delaware -and Chester County community as well as Penn State students and staff were invited to attend. “The event was held,” according to Tammy Zampogna, “in order to celebrate Dr. King’s accomplishments and to educate those who wanted to learn more Dear In The Shadow, I am assuming that your sister is older, in which case it is very normal : _ to be referred to as her sister. Beverly Lindsy stated that, “It is important to observe Dr. King’s birthdey so that we don’t forget. Because if we forget what he worked so hard to correct, history will repeat itself. Professor Richard Betts, impressed with the turnout, remarked “This was an important occasion that was observed in a great way.” Dr. Tomezsko commented, “It was a celebration, not only of things that happened, but also a celebration of things to come.” In closing, Mrs., Lindsy stated that, “Each voice is important. We must . speak up against oppression. Until we do, it doesn’t matter what our race, religion, or even sexual preference; we are agreeing, we are giving our silent consent. Dr. King wasn’t only fighting for black equality, but equality for everyone.”
