Three guest speakers have Undergo Flash Testing ar UP By Peggie Cahall On the weekend of February 21-23, 1992, the Penn state Army ROTC Programs held a Flash Testing up at University Park in the Wagner Building. The purpose of this weekend was to have the Rangers try to receive the highly coveted but rarely earned Flash that consists of a halaciously stressful, mentally and physically demanding test, that is the nearest simulated creation of combat. : Twenty-six cadets made it through the weekend. Two rangers, one a Delco student, Rich Clifford, received their flashes at 2030 on Saturday night. Eleven other people can retest their PT test, to receive their flashes, five which were Delco cadets. As of now Ian Regnier, Lou Mandich, Mat Vinnecombe and Sylona Reddi have received their's Security Urges Students to Obey Parking Regulations By Joe Damiani In a recent interview, Andy Kearney, the campus security officer during the morning and afternoon shift, said that many drivers are breaking the campus speed limit by accelerating ten miles past the normal limit. This is serious because on February 11 there was an accident on campus involving extensive damage to both vehicles. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The accident occurred in the parking lot located near the Commons Building. It was a right angle collision in which a person failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic while attempting to leave the parking area. However, exceeding the speed limit is not the only problem facing security. According to Kearney, “Parking in the wrong areas or parking without a proper permit is also evident on campus.” This is happening especially in the Library parking area. Students are parking in spaces designed to accommodate faculty and staff. This is preventing teachers from starting classes on time. If you need a parking permit, you must see Andy Kearney at the security office in the main building. Students who park in areas reserved for university faculty will be towed from that space and forced to pay the towing charges. because they have retested. Bill Pietras has not yet retested PT. Along with the cadets who received their flashes this weekend; there are already two rangers, on campus who received their Flashes last year, Jeff Hoagland and George Golliday. The thirteen Common Wealth Campuses and University park ROTC Programs were involved in this weekend. The schedule of this weekend was very intense. Zebiya Rigby will speak about women from Uganda, Hanene BenAbdullah will discuss women from Tunisia, and Ify Onyemaobim will speak about women from Nigeria. This event is in collaboration with the Cultures of Africa celebration and with the 10th Anniversary of the Women’s Commision at PSU . Delco. Although events such as this one are highly publicized around campus, many students are unaware that there is a women's liaison group active at PSU Delco. According to Diane Shorter, chairperson for the Women’s Commision liaison group, “we try to get the students involved as much as possible, however there doesn’t seem to be much support.” Shorter stated that the liaison group serves as a forum for the questions and/or concerns of the female students on our campus, and added that anyone is welcome to get in contact with the group by seeing her in 106 Main.
