a “October 11, 1991 — LION’'SEYE — Page 11 Annual ROTC Military Ball To Be Held November 23 By Peggie Cahall It’s almost time for the Annual ROTC Military Ball. MSG Wilder started the function four years ago. He felt the cadets needed it. “They needed a touch of class.” It also gives the cadets a look at a Formal military Function as an officer in the United States Army. The planning of the Military Ball starts one year prior to the event. There is a lot of hard work that goes into the careful planning; Decorations to be decided on, color schemes, seating charts, and deadlines to meet. Within the program is the posting of colors, receiving line (when the cadets introduce their dates to dignitaries), formal toasting, call to mess, a cadet creed, and the retiring of the colors. ~ Afterwards there is a band; the cadets and guests can “let their hair down”. “It's to bring together an established esprit de corps and unity among the corps of cadets and outside guests.,” says Wilder. MSG Wilder holds a lot of anticipation and excitement for this year’s Ball, “It's a giant Ice breaker. The cadets have the chance to meet other club leaders and get involved with other clubs. The Ball gives me an opportunity to invite the other club leaders; it gives them the opportunity to take a=look at ROTC and hopefully develop a better understanding of our purpose, to see that we are here to support the University and all club programs associated with this University.” This year’s Military Ball is on November 23rd at the Media Inn. The cost is $25.00 a person. It is by invitation only. The Military Ball, for anyone who attends, is definitely a night to remember. this season, PSU Delco’s soccer team is keeping their spirits up. The provost has accepted our invitation to come and open our The ceremonies. We have never had Bith on this campus, so this is kind of high profile.” ~ “Overall we are going to try to present people with a number of programs that will be of some interest to them,” explains Kirker, “We know it’s not a subject that’s on the tip of everyone's tongue, but we will work it so that it appeals to everyone. We just want people to come away with a better understanding of African culture.” Kick that ball! Delco player rushes to score.
