SHARP’S DISTRIBUTORS Beer & Ale Porter & Soft Drinks 10 Decatur St., Marietta — 426-3918 Leisure Club by Joe Shaeffer The Mount Joy Leisure Club met at Hostetter Dining Hall Monday, No- vember 10; 120 members and guests were present. Following the invocation by Arthur Braun, a dinner was served by a committee of men from the club. Following the dinner, the business meeting was called to order by President Joe Shaeffer. The secretary’s report was read by Nedra Brandt and the treasurer’s report by Kathryn Zink. George Groff stated there was nothing new to report concerning the activities of Community Council. Cyrus Cainor reported that they need assistance, requesting that more people attend the meetings and assist in the operation of the Community Council. Mrs. Elizabeth Hassinger reported a total of 19 cards sent to shut-ins. Bertha Foreman of the Entertain- ment Committee reported the Christmas party would be at Hostetters on Decem- ber 10th. Mrs. Foreman also reported that a commit- tee meeting would be held in January to plan activities for the coming year. Songs were sung to those having a birthday or anni- versary in November. New members welcomed in the club were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hitz, Lillian New- comer, Pauline Supperl, Martha Trostle, Mrs. Jos- eph Shaeffer, Mrs. Carl Drohan, and Ester Stauffer. Guests were, Mrs. Ruth Musser and Thelma Miller. There being no old business, President - Shaef- fer went into new business. Members were asked to sign up for the Christmas party, and by the time the meeting ended, 103 had signed the paper. The first item of business discussed was a meeting place. The Hostet- ter Dining Hall was made available to the Leisure Club, and all present agreed to hold all future meetings there. The other item was sending gifts to the shut-ins at Christmas and Easter time. In the past plants were purchased and deliver- ed, but this is becoming a problem of money and time. It was decided by all present that in the future, th shut-ins will receive a copy of the Ideals magazine, one for the Christmas season and one for the Easter season. President Shaeffer an- nounced that the members of the Mount Joy Leisure Club could obtain a lunch at the Schock Presbyterian Home, Monday through Friday. Activities run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch served at 12:30. Programs of interest to senior citizens are presented. Transportation will be made available to those who need it. Reservations must be made the day before the individual plans to attend by calling Mrs. Nancy Morrow, Center Manager, 653-8585.
