JOHN'S VESTRY MEETING HELD IN RECTORY (The following article was not printed in its entirety on March 19) On March 4, Father and Mrs. Red entertained the vestry and their wives in the newly renovated rectory. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Moses Betz, Mr. and Mrs. Robie Nein, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marley, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Shope and Mr. Edger Shopf. This was the last meet- ing before the election of officers. An Audio Visual Institute was held Saturday, March 15, from 8 - 4 at the Pax- ton Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg. Attending from St. John’s were Vicki Die- trich, D.R.E. and two teach- ers, Carol Nein and Cindy Frady. This was a learning workshop sponsored by the Ira Browning Foundation. A Vigil before the cross will be held at St. John’s on Good Friday. Service will be from 12 - 3. Please feel free to come to any part of the service. All are welcome to attend. MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE AT GLOSSBRENNER The Maundy Thursday evening service at Gloss- brenner United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, will be held on March 27, at 7:30 p.m. The Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper will be cele- brated at the altar railing of the sanctuary. Following the commun- ion service, The Office of Tenebrae will trace the steps of Jesus from The Upper Room to Gethsemane to the trial and crucifixion as darkness slowly fills the church. The Senior Choir will read The Passion Story of the Gospel of Mark in choric manner. Eas- ter Sunday service will be held at 10 a.m. A ciborium was presented to St. John’s Parish by Elaine Laughery and a friend, Sarah Clark, in mem- ory of Mrs. Laughery’s mother, Mayme Bretz. Mrs. Bretz died April 11, 1974. The ciborium, usually of silver, is a box to hold’ consecrated wafers that are kept in reserve for the sick or an emergency. DONEGAL CHURCH NEWS...
