ST. JOHN'S VESTRY
MEETING HELD
IN RECTORY
(The following article was

on March 19)
On March 4, Father and
Mrs. Red entertained the
vestry and their wives in the
newly renovated rectory.
Attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Moses Betz, Mr. and
Mrs. Robie Nein, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Long, Mr. and
Mrs. Steve Bowers, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Marley, Mr. and
Mrs. Terry Shope and Mr.
Edger Shopf.
This was the last meet-
ing before the election of
officers.
An Audio Visual Institute
was held Saturday, March
15, from 8 - 4 at the Pax-
ton Presbyterian Church,
Harrisburg. Attending from
St. John’s were Vicki Die-
trich, D.R.E. and two teach-
ers, Carol Nein and Cindy
Frady. This was a learning
workshop sponsored by the
Ira Browning Foundation.
A Vigil before the cross
will be held at St. John’s on
Good Friday. Service will
be from 12 - 3. Please feel
free to come to any part of
the service. All are welcome
to attend.
MAUNDY THURSDAY
SERVICE AT
GLOSSBRENNER
The Maundy Thursday
evening service at Gloss-
brenner United Methodist
Church, Mount Joy, will be
held on March 27, at 7:30
p.m. The Sacrament of The
Lord’s Supper will be cele-
brated at the altar railing of
the sanctuary.
Following the commun-
ion service, The Office of
Tenebrae will trace the steps
of Jesus from The Upper
Room to Gethsemane to
the trial and crucifixion as
darkness slowly fills the
church. The Senior Choir
will read The Passion Story
of the Gospel of Mark in
choric manner. This will be
interspersed with congrega-
tional singing and the an-
them “O Dearest Lord, Thy
Sacred Head” by Hardy.

- the Lord’s Supper will be
celebrated. The Good Fri-
day service, also at 7:30
p.m., will have recorded
music in place of a sermon.
The church will be open
Saturday for contributions
of Easter Flowers, which
may be placed in the sanc-
tuary for Sunday’s Services.
Easter begins with a 7
a.m. service of Word and
Sacrament, followed by a
coffee fellowship in the
social hall. Sunday Church
School is at 9:30 a.m. The
regular service is scheduled
for 10:45 a.m. with brass
instruments accompanying
two hymns at each service.
ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL
CHURCH
Maundy Thursday even-
ing service will be held at St.
John’s Episcopal Church at
7:30 p.m. Good Friday
service will be held from
noon to 3 p.m. This will
be a “Vigil Before the Cross”
service and the public is wel-
come to drop in for any
part of the celebration. Eas-
ter Sunday service will be
held at 10 a.m.
A ciborium was presented
to St. John’s Parish by
Elaine Laughery and a
friend, Sarah Clark, in mem-
ory of Mrs. Laughery’s
mother, Mayme Bretz. Mrs.
Bretz died April 11, 1974.
The ciborium, usually of
silver, is a box to hold’
consecrated wafers that are
kept in reserve for the sick
or an emergency.
DONEGAL
CHURCH NEWS...
Holy Communion will be
celebrated on Thursday,
March 27, at 7:30 p.m. at
Donegal Presbyterian Chur-
ch. .
On Easter Sunday there
will be a Sunrise Service at
7:00 a.m., followed by a
breakfast at 8, Morning Wor-
ship at 9, and an Easter Egg
Hunt at 10:15.
EASTER MORNING AT
GLOSSBRENNER
Easter morning worship,
March 30, will be held at
Glossbrenner United Metho-
dist Church, Mount Joy, at
9:30 a.m. This Serivce of
The Resurrection will fea-
ture a brass ensemble com-
prised of Hugh Flick, Kevin
Milligan, Bruce Wagner, and
Mark Wagner. The ensemble
will accompany several an-
thems and congregational
singing.
The Junior Choir will
sing “There Is a Green Hill”
with Anne Nicholas, flutist.
The Senior Choir will sing
“Blessing, Glory and Honor”
by Bach. The Junior, Youth
and Senior Choirs will com-
bine to sing ‘““Lives Once
Again Our Glorious King,”
arrangement by Ehret. Ste-
phen Smith, baritone solo-
ist, will sing “The Resurrec-
tion” by Curran. :
The Rev. Clair L. Wagner.
Jr., pastor, will preach or
the theme “Christian Hope:
Abide!”, the concluding ser-
mon in a Lenten-Easter ser-
