Page 8 - Mount Joy Bulletin December 11, 1974 Charles Spring Water How Back Near Normal Some of Mount Joy’s water problems have disappeared! For some unknown reason, Charles spring, which feeds into Mount Joy’s system west of the borough, has returned to near normal production, it was reported Monday night at Borough Council meeting. About two weeks ago, after becoming almost dry, the spring began to return and water now is in good supply. Engineers speculated that an underground ‘‘feeder” stream may have collapsed. It may now have cleared, it was ventured. Also, recent rains have helped replenish ground water. During the late summer and early fall, there was rainfall, but most was hard, dashing and ran off as surface water. Borough Manager Joseph Bateman said that because of a new re-cycling in- stallation at National- Standard, east of the PACK 136 NEWS About 180 parents and Scouts attended a roller skating party recently at Mount Gretna roller rink, in charge of Cubmasters Robert W. Mark of Pack 136 and Charles Eshleman of Pack 263. New Scouts signed up are John O’Connell, Bryan K. Good, and Wayne L. Buchter. In the second place, if you are, it's a treasure chest of information. Miss Sentz also served for ten years as night supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster and the remainder of her years in general duty nursing. Yingst said that the mer- chants feel that council acted in haste without consulting with them. G. Walter Sloan said that he knows of no other community which charges a nickel for only five minutes. The question was raised as to whether or not Mount Joy’s 20-year-old meters can be adjusted and revamped to charge the suggested ‘30 for 5” rate. Formerly, the meters gave 12 minutes for one cent, an hour for five and 120 for 10. By the new ordinance, the meters give 12 minutes for One councilman said that the merchants ‘‘are going to be stuck with the meters as they are for a month or two, whatever council decides.” The new rates were voted October 14, changing of the meter mechanism was begun at once and now is virtually completed.
