The high cost of fuel, the uncertainty of availability and a need to feel secure from the cold winds of winter has caused one local couple to begin in a very serious nature to find the way to heat their new home with solar energy. + +4 The couple sees, within the very near future, a new home for themselves, to be built on a spot they already own. +++ Their architect is having a serious look at the possibilities and from what they now find, they are thrilled about the prospects of cutting through one of the 27, in the D.H.S. gymnasium. The schedule will be as follows: Thursday, Dec. 26 6:30 p.m. — Eastern high school vs. Hempfield high school. 8:30 p.m. — Manheim Central high school vs. Donegal high school. Friday, Dec. 27 6:30 p.m. — Consolation game bewteen Thursday night’s losers. 8:30 p.m. Thursday night’s games. — Championship game between winners ‘of All tickets for the tournament will be purchased at the door. The following schools are participating: Eastern High School of York; Conrad- Weiser High School of Berks county; Penn Manor high school, and Donegal high school. The afternoon session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the evening session will begin at 6 p.m. for consolations, followed by the finals at 7:30 p.m. Admission price per session — Adults, $2. students, $1. Admission for both sessions— adults, $3 and students, $1.50. All tickets will be sold at the gate. Passes will not be Borough to Claim Full Quarter Percent Wage Tax to Balance Budget Despite strong and studied opposition, Mount Joy Borough Council Monday night, Dec. 16, claimed one quarter of one percent of wage taxes to balance its $277,150 budget for 1975. Citizens and members of the Donegal School Board at- tended and with statements and a prepared letter opposed the method used to finance the new budget. By law, a one-percent wage tax may be levied and may be divided by the taxing units involved. Locally, in the past, the Borough of Mount Joy has taken 4 and the school %. By law, the borough may claim up to 2. At its December meeting a week ago, council proposed to claim its full share, thus cutting the school’s portion. Donegal Church Sets Two Services Two services of worship at historic Donegal Presyb- terian church, both atuned to the Christmas season, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 22. Sunday morning worship will begin at 9 o’clock with the pastor, the Rev. Robert C. Murphy, giving a special compilation of scripture, ‘poetry and pastoral com- ments to tell the Christmas story. Sunday evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m., the church will hold a candlelight service. The combined choirs will take part. Everyone is welcome at both services. Feature Choirs At Glossbrenner Sunday Morning Worship at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 22, 9:30 a.m., will feature anthems by the Junior, Youth and Senior Choirs. The Youth Choir will sing ‘“‘Shepherds, I Can See You” by Emig. The Senior Choir will sing Bach’s ‘A Child Is Born’’ with Stephen Smith as soloist and Nicolai’s ‘‘Now Let All the Earth Adore Thee’ with Stephen Smith and Bruce Wagner, trum- peters. Scriptural narration by the pastor will tie the anthems together. Sandra Heisey will sing “December Child,”’ written by the choir director. She will be accompanied by Mark Supplee on the bass violin. Mrs. David Nicholas is the choir director and Mrs. Norman Will is organist. The pastor will preach the concluding sermon in an Advent series entitled, ‘God Comes: in a Person.” At Glossbrenner Two Candlelight Services will be held at Glossbrenner United Methodist church on Christmas Eve. The 7:30 p.m. Family Service will feature music by the Junior and Youth Choirs. The juniors will sing ‘‘Jesus Child” by Greenwood with Maxine Maxwell, flutist, and the Polish Carol ‘‘Sweetly Sleeping’’ with Michelle Kling, flutist. The English Folk Carol ‘‘When Love Was Born’ will be sung by the Youth Choir. Karen Mum- maw will play a clarinet solo, ‘‘All Through the Night.” The 11 p.m. traditional service will feature music by the Senior Choir. It will sing duet, “The Snow Lay on the Ground,” an English Carol. They will be accompanied on the oboe by Gail Heisey, who also will play an oboe solo, “What Child Is This?” Both services will include a candle lighting ceremony for the congregation. Nur- sery care will be provided at the 7:30 service only. Two Christmas Eve Services At St. Luke's The season of Christmas will begin in St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve with a Family Service of Carols and Candles.
