Did You Hear? §§§ Daniel Strohm, son of Mrs. Jack O. Penwell of 120 East Hazel Ave., Marietta, has been specially identified for early promotion to senior airman in the U.S. Air Force. Airman Strohm was awarded the new rating by the ‘‘below-the zone’’ pro- motion board which con- sidered job performance, military knowledge, bearing and self-improvement ef- forts. Airman Strohm is a weather observer at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxford, England. The airman is a 1977 graduate of Donegal High School. §§§ §§§ Florence M. Smith, 336 Rivermoor Drive, is one of 610 students who were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Millersville State College. §§§ Richard W. Sloan, M.D.,’ Mount Joy, was one of eight physicians who recently completed a three-year Family Practice Residency Program at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was honored in graduation cere- monies at the Treadway Resort Inn on Friday, June 27. Dr. Sloan was graduated from the Philadelphia Col- lege of Pharmacy and Science and received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State Univer- sity, The Milton S. Hershey Medical School. He was the Chief Resident and the recipient of the Mead Johnson Award. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physi- cians, the Christian Medical Society and the American Heart Association. Bitzer of R.D.#1, Mount Joy, has completed the course of study at the U.S. Naval Radio ‘‘A’’ Service School, NTC San Diego, California. Seaman Bitzer learned the advanced tech- nical radio communications used by the Navy in Ship and Shore operations. A graduate of Donegal High School, class of 1977, he now reports to the Polaris Missile Facility, Charleston, SC, for duty assignment. §§§ Navy Fireman Recruit Tracy A. Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid. Norman Duns- more, interim pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Joy, and his wife, Mary, administrator of the Schock Presbyterian Home, were honored Sunday, June 29, following the worship service at the church. Rev. Dunsmore will con- tinue to serve as interim pastor for the church until the end of July when the new pastor, Glenn Mains, will be ordained and installed. A native of New Jersey, Dunsmore was educated at SUSQUEHANNA TIMES—Page 3 Rutgers and Princeton The- ological Seminary. His wife graduated from the College of Wooster. The couple served in Brazil as missionaries from 1947 to 1961. §§§ Jeannette Odilia Mec- Donald, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack N. McDonald of R.D. 1, Marietta, was christened last Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Maytown. Robert Lescallette, pastor at St. John’s, officiated. God- parents were Larry Mc- Donald, the child’s uncle, and Penny Spence. For the sacrament, the child wore an antique christening dress made in 1861.
