Did You Hear? James R. Bennett James R. Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Bennett Jr., 257 Marietta Ave., Mount Joy, recently was promoted to Army lieutenant colonel while assigned as an instructor with the Academy of Health Sciences, U.S. Army of Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The appointing orders for this promotion stated *‘. . . The President of the U.S. has placed special trust and confidence in this officer’s patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities.”’ The promotion was based upon these qualities and the demonstrated potential for increased responsibility. Bennett entered the Army in July 1964 and received his commission through the ROTC program. He received a master’s degree in 1976 from Baylor University, Fort Sam, Houston. His wife Mary is with him at the fort. $88 Karen L. Greider of Mount Joy received her B.S. degree at commencement ceremonies held Thursday, May 29, at Muhlenberg College, Allentown. Karen majored in biology. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay C. Ken received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoolo- gy, and was elected to the CSU chapter of the national honor saciety Phi Beta Kappa. The $250.00 John Herr Groff Memorial Scholarship, established for a Food Trades student continuing their education in a two year, certified foods pro- gram, was presented by Mrs. Betty Groff to Ronald Meckley, a 1979 graduate of Donegal High School and the Mount Joy Vo-Tech School. §§§ Nancy A. Forry, wife of Mr. David Forry, Mount Joy, will be one of thirty- nine graduates to receive her diploma at the 76th annual graduation excer- cises of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. The ceremony will be held Saturday, June 7. §§§ Terry Ginder Dewitt, Marshalls Creek, PA, and formerly of Mount Joy, received her Master’s De- gree in Social Work from Marywood College, Scran- ton, PA, on Sunday, May 25. §§§ Jeffrey M. Boulton of Mount Joy was awarded a bachelor of science degree at Juniata College com- mencement exercises Sun- day, May 25. Fellenbaum, son of Dr. and Mrs. Harold Fellenbaum, 30 South Mar- ket Street, Mount Joy, received a bachelor of science degree in computer science with a minor in business management at Moravian College com- mencement held Sunday, June 1. He was on the dean’s list, played varsity basketball for four years, was a residence hall advisor, was a member of the Association of Computing Machinery, Computer Policy Commit- tee, and was an alternate member of the College Disciplinary Appeal Board Committee. He has accepted a position with Sperry Univac as an associate programmer trainee in the Software Development Support De- partment, located at Blue Bell, PA. §§§ Some local people were among the 296 students graduated for Penn State/ York at last Thursday’s commencement.
