Ibach, a member of the National Shade Tree. Commission and resident of Manheim, will be the guest speaker for the Manheim Garden Club on June 12th at 6 30PM. The meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Utha Webb, 229 North Laurel Street, Manheim at which time Mr. Ibach will demonstrate tree trimming and pruning. Should there be inclement weather Mr. Ibach will conduct a ques- tion and answer session regarding the same topic at the Fasig House, East High Street, Manheim at 6:30PM. Mr. Ibach has been active in this special area for over 30 years having begun lawn care as a custom chain saw operator for John Kendig of Manheim. Membership in the Man- heim Garden Club is open and the public is invited to attend the meetings. Lancaster’s Art Alley scheduled for June 28 Art alley Student Show and Sale will be held in Penn Square, Lancaster, on two separate days this year as events of the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival. This open air art and crafts show featuring the work of Lancaster County students is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, from noon to dusk. Students will again have an opportunity to showcase their work on Sunday, July 13, beginning at noon. Penn Square will also be the setting for a concert by The New Christy Minstrels at 7pm, sponsored by the Commonwealth National Bank. No advance registration is necessary for Art Alley which is open to all art students, age 25 and younger, living or studying in Lancaster County. Stu- dents should come prepared to set up and display their work. All forms of original art—paintings, sculptures, drawings, sketches and others—may be offered for sale. No entry fee will be charged and the sponsor, The Fine Arts League of Lancaster, will charge no commission on sales. The committee may order the withdrawal of any work it considers inappropriate. All sales will be con- ducted by the artists who should be prepared to make change. Each is responsible for his displays, easels, pegboards or other mater- ials. The price of each work offered for sale must be displayed. The Commonwealth Na- tional Bank will award a $50 savings bond to each of 12 winners of an art contest to be held in connection with the second Art Alley show on July 13. Entries in the contest are limited to pen and ink drawings and must reflect a subject representative of Lancaster County. The two have much in common, especially a desire to see the threat of birth defects removed. Palmer is National Chairman for the March of Dimes, whose mission is prevention of birth defects.
