The chicken can be picked up at the parking lot of the Lions Club building (next to the pool) in Mount Joy. Tickets can be purchased from any Joycee-ette or by calling Sue Thomas, 426- 1516. Deadline for advanced tickets is May 17. Cole slaw and macaroni salad will be sold at the club’s food and bake stand to be held with the barbeque sale. Reymer Supervisor East Main Street MOUNT JOY, PA Phone 653-1151 Florin Ch. of Brethren focuses on poor/hungry The Florin Church of the Brethren, 81S Bruce Ave., Mount Joy, will be focusing on the problems of the poor and hungry around the world on Sunday, May 18. The 10:10 am worship service will feature guest harpest Jane Kauffman Brye, a graduate of Eliza- bethtown College, member of the Lancaster and Reading Symphony Orches- tras, and presently a strings teacher in the Conestoga Valley Schools. Mrs. Brye will play the prelude and offertory and accompany the Senior Choir of the church on two anthems by Faure: ‘‘Sanct- us’’ from the Requiem and “Psalm 84.” The pastor, Robert Kettering, will de- liver a message entitled “When I Was Hungry.”’ Following the worship hour, a sacrificial meal of the type eaten in third world countries will be served. Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Wenger, members of the church, will show slides of their recent ten day mission to the poor of the Dominican Republic following the meal. All are invited to the day’s activities of worship, fellow- ship and challenge. Donegal girl scouts get recognition, awards The Donegal Neighbor- hood of Girl Scouts held its recognition banquet last Monday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Mount Joy. Girl scouts, leaders and troop committee members were presented with awards in appreciation of service to the organization. Neighborhood chairper- son Nancy Kopf (who was herself a recipient of a 20-year pin) made the presentations. Sharan Mar- ley earned a 15-year pin, and Martha Bixler, Vicky, Smith, Elaine Miller, Ann Eicherly and Beth Gainer all earned 10-year pins. Receiving S-year recog- nition were: Betty Bitzer, Judy Waters, Joyce Heiser- man, Diane Leonard, Nancy Malloy, Georgina Haner, Jennifer Shirk, Teresa My- ers, Wendy Weller, Shelly Schwert, and Yvonne Light- ner. Persons earning the mini- ature Girl Scout Pins were: Sandy Farmer, Antoinette Allum, Gretchen ‘Leonard, Jill Kerchner, Pat Derr and Bruce Hamer.
