Florin Ch. of Brethren
focuses on poor/hungry
The Florin Church of the
Brethren, 81S Bruce Ave.,
Mount Joy, will be focusing
on the problems of the poor
and hungry around the
world on Sunday, May 18.
The 10:10 am worship
service will feature guest
harpest Jane Kauffman
Brye, a graduate of Eliza-
bethtown College, member
of the Lancaster and
Reading Symphony Orches-
tras, and presently a strings
teacher in the Conestoga
Valley Schools.
Mrs. Brye will play the
prelude and offertory and
accompany the Senior Choir
of the church on two
anthems by Faure: ‘‘Sanct-
us’’ from the Requiem and
“Psalm 84.” The pastor,
Robert Kettering, will de-
liver a message entitled
“When I Was Hungry.”’
Following the worship
hour, a sacrificial meal of
the type eaten in third world
countries will be served. Dr.
and Mrs. Hugh Wenger,
members of the church, will
show slides of their recent
ten day mission to the poor
of the Dominican Republic
following the meal.
All are invited to the day’s
activities of worship, fellow-
ship and challenge.
