Local members of the Mount Joy High School class of 1927 presented the Mount Joy library with two books in memory of their recently deceased class- mate, Pauline Bube Engle. The new publication, Conestoga Crossroads, Lan- caster, Pennsylvania, 1730- 1790, is by Jerome H. Wood, Jt. The book depicts the early history of Lan- caster County and em- phasized the problems in forging a community out of diversified ethnic, religious and socio-economic phil- osophies. Since ‘‘Hon’’ (as Pauline Engle was affectionately known) was a great lover of animals, the second book chosen is A Dog of Your Own by M.A. Stoneridge. This book is a complete guide to selection, caring for, training, showing, breeding and enjoying your dog. It contains many interesting and amusing facts, photographs and de- lightful drawings. It is a book that should appeal to dog lovers—both school children and adults. Both books are now available for your reading pleasure at the Mount Joy Public Library and can be seen in the display window of the Library Center at 22 East Main Street. —Clara Myers Mount J oy Sportsmen trap shoots The Mount Joy Sports- men’s Association is holding trap shoots every Tuesday night from 7 to 10 pm at the club house. The unit grew out of a field trip to the North Museum where stu- dent interest was aroused. The class saw a filmstrip called ‘‘Digging for Dino- saurs’’ and read lots of stories on the prehistoric animals, learning the names of the common ones. After much work the entire class put together a mural which is displayed in the front show case. Stu- dents contributed materials, wrote reports, drew pic- tures, and helped to put the mural together. The entire class was very fascinated with the project.
