Students study bugs Miss Ault’s class at Riverview Elementary has been studying bugs. Their arithmetic lessons involve counting bugs. They read about bugs, talk about bugs, and study the life cycle of bugs. Last week, the class held a ‘‘Bug Day’’ celebration and invited Mrs. Schorr’s class to participate. The room was decked with paper bugs, bug posters, and bug information. Mrs. Schorr’s students were treated to ladybug salad, bee’s honey on cricket chips, walking sticks and bug juice. Each student also got a paper bug of his or her very own. Then both classes went outside to hold a bug hunt. Many bugs were captured in the grass. They were later released unharmed. Longenecker family gets help from friends We have often heard that people are too busy these days and ‘‘can’t become involved’ when someone needs help. This certainly doesn’t apply to the caring friends and neighbors of the Ira Longenecker family of Donegal Springs, Mount Joy. The Longenecker family lost its home and possesions to a fire on Wednesday, April 16. Their son, Fred, was in the home at the time of the fire and was burned with injuries to his face and hands. Fred is now able to return to work and has done well in recovering from his burns. On Monday, May 12, the Mennonite Disaster Organ- ization come to help in the razing of their home. Friends: from the Grace Brethren = Church, Florin Church of the Brethren and other concerned neighbors came to aid the family in their day long efforts to sprip the home down to the block shell. The Luke Gerber family opened its garage so that all helping could share a meal. A family member was contacted and spoke of the unbelievable concern shown by the entire community. The Florin Church of the Brethren and the Grace Brethren Churches held special offerings to help in the rebuilding of the home which was not fully covered by insurance. Numerous civic organizations, friends and neighbors have given tc the family to aid them in their new home. —Cherie Dillow t Thursday and Friday evenings by prescheduled SUSQUEHANNA TIMES—Page 5 & IBBERSON'S CARPET FOR HOME AND CAR gee 1660 SOUTH MARKET STREET 4 ELIZABETHTOWN, PA 17022 Open Monday through Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm Saturday 9 am to 12 noon -— Ease appointment only.
