Page 6—SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Obituaries HARRY F. HAAS Harry F. Haas, Jr., 71, of S11 E. Market St., Marietta, died Friday at Columbia Hospital after an illness of six days. He was the husband of Martha C. Swartz Haas. They celebrated their S2nd. wedding anniversary in October, 1979. A retired painter, Haas was also retired from the former Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown after 20 years of service. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Pio- neer Fire Company of Marietta; Foresters of Am- erica in Columbia; Susque- hanna Beneficial Associa- tion and Marietta Beneficial Association, both in Mariet- ta, and Marietta-Columbia Landowners Association. Born in Marietta, he was a life-long resident of the area and a son of the late Harry F. and Carrie C. Nevin Haas. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anna C., wife of Levere D. Hefflefinger, an employee of United Telephone Co., died un- expectedly at his Columbia home last week. He was S6. He lived at 284 S. Fourth St., Columbia. He was the husband of the late Orpha Fischer Hefflefinger, who died in January 1973. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mary Swarmer Hefflefinger. He was a test board operator for the United Telephone Co. of Columbia for 37 years. He was baptized in the Christian faith. A member of the Tele- phone Pioneers of America, Hefflefinger was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 372 of Columbia. He is survived by daugh- ters Rosemarie Hurley, Columbia, and Mary R., at home; one granddaughter; a sister, Ruth, wife of Aretus Corwin, Columbia, and a brother, Earl R. Heffle- finger, Lancaster. MRS. C. J. LOCURTO Mrs. Stasia H. LoCurto, of S Bainbridge Road, died Sunday at her home after an illness of two years. She was the widow of Charles J. LoCurto, who died in 1972. Mrs. LoCurto was the daughter of Mrs. Barbara Cuga Kozinski, Lilly, and the late Joseph Kozinski. She was a supervisor in the auto department of Donegal Mutual Insurance Company, Marietta, until the time of her illness. Mrs. LoCurto was a member of Presentation B. V. M. Catholic Church, Marietta. Besides her mother, she is survived by three daugh- ters; Jessie M., wife of Michael McDevitt, Wil- liamsport; Patricia A., wife of Phillip Sinegar, Mount Joy; and Theresa K. LoCurto, Cupertino, Calif.; and one son, Joseph A. LoCurto, Maytown. Seven grandchildren also survive. Also surviving are five sisters: Theresia, wife of Joseph Rovenski, Colver: Josephine, wife of Nick Capolone, Glendale, N.Y.; Sophie Tomol, Astoria, Long Island, N.Y.; Evelyn, wife of James P. Leap, Cresson; and Bernadine, wife of Theodore Ernest, Atlantic City, N.J.; and one brother, John Kozinski. Lillv. MRS. H. H. LONGENECKER Mrs. Fannie M. Longe- necker, 88, of Rheems, died Monday at her home, following a three-week ill- ness. She was the wife of Henry R. Longenecker, who died in 1946. Born in Middletown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel B. and Mary Horst Martin. She was a member of Bossler’s Mennonite Church, Elizabethtown. She was active in the sewing circle and relief work at the church. She is survived by a son, Ray M. Longenecker, Eliza- bethtown; and by Ruth M. Longenecker, with whom she resided. Also surviving are four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is the last of her immediate family. R. H. MCELROY Raymond H. McElroy, 74, died Friday morning at Columbia Hospital after a two-week illness. He is the husband of Ruth G. Barcley McElroy. Born in Marietta, he was a son of the late Milton G. and Ida Hershey McElroy. He was a life-long resident of the area. McElroy was the retired manager of Peter Lumber Company, Columbia, where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1970. A carpenter by trade, he formerly worked for the B. F. Hiestand Lumber Com- pany, Marietta. May 7, 1980 He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Marietta, the Susquehanna Beneficial Association, the Marietta Boat Club and the Marietta Bear Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Grace R., wife of Harold L. Shireman, Lancaster, and one grandson. Also survi- ving are two sisters, Beat- rice, wife of Cloy Hoffer, Elizabethtown, and Hazel, wife of James Baker, Marietta. Garden Club The Manheim Garden Club will meet on May 8, 1980 in the Community Building, 15 East Main Street, Manheim, at 7:30 pm. The featured speaker will be Lester Hostetter of Mount Joy. Mr. Hostetter, a winner of many awards for roses and a member of the Lancaster Men’s Garden Club, will discuss the growing of roses.
