The relay teams also did well. Donegal won the 400, 1600, and 3200 meter relays. Donegal faces tough Lan- caster Catholic and L-S teams this week. ‘‘Don’t expect us to win,”’ says Portser. ‘“We know that we can’t come up with the team points needed to beat these schools, so we are going to concentrate on grooming our best girls for districts.” Beth Gainer, Betsey Mar- ley, Patty Fready and Sherri Kinsey will be entered in only one event so they are well rested and can perform to their maximum potential. ““I think they’ve peaked at the right time,” says Portser. He also give much credit to his assistant coaches, Jill Shupp and Deb Geno. “They work the girls hard, and they understand track. I think they are the reason that we’ve turned this poor, run-down, ragged team into a winning team.’ Saturday the team travels to Millersville for the Lancaster-Lebanon all- league meet. At last Saturday’s 46th annual Manheim Relay Games Beth Gainer won the mile with a time of 5 minutes and 36 seconds. There were nine schools entered in the games. Nursery School makes ice cream Happiness filled the air on Wednesday, April 30th, at Zion Lutheran Nursery School in Marietta. Miss Miriam Nolt, retired school teacher, visited the child- ren, bringing her hand- crank ice cream maker. First, Miss Nolt explained to the children what ingre- dients were needed to make ice cream. Then, after putting all the ingredients into the ice cream maker, each child took a turn at the hand crank. After a little work and a lot of giggles and fun, the children receieved their reward—bowls of home-made vanilla ice cream with their choice of topping. If you would like your child to share in experiences like this, along with many others, enroll him or her now for the 1980-81 nursery school year. Two-day classes are avail- able for those children who are two years from kinder- garten; three day classes are available for those children who are one year from kindergarten. There are still some openings in both classes. For more information call Mrs. Cheryl K. Ronan (state certified teacher) at 684- 5689, or Mrs. Jennifer Douglas (aide) at 426-1482, or the church office at 426-1884.
