The merger of The Home Building and Loan Assoc- iation, Marietta, PA, found- ed in 1898, with Central Savings & Loan Association, Columbia, PA, founded in 1925S, has been approved by the Pennsylvania Depart- ment of Banking and the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation. These local institutions have been serving this area for nearly a century, and proud they might be, for each survived a major depression and several seri- ous recessions. During the past twenty years this area has shown growth and prosperity re- sulting from a diverse economic base and hard working citizens. These Associations have assisted thousands in mak- ing home ownership become a reality. This was accom- plished by insuring the savers that their savings were invested in good, solid local real estate while savings were earning the highest legal rates of interest. Mount Joy Jaycees’ CPR course taught by Ambulance Assoc. crew The Mount Joy Jaycees have been sponsoring cours- es in CPR (cardio-pulmo- nary resuscitation). Instructors were supplied by the Mount Joy Ambu- lance Association: Jessie Crouser, Debbie Hagey, and Bill Martin. The course ran for a total of 12 hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Joy. People in the course learned what to do if a person’s heart stops beating or he stops breathing. The course will be offered again, and the Jaycees hope that as many people as possible will learn the life-saving skills.
