Cameras were every- where and the flash bulbs lit up the room, laughter resounded, and the cares of the world were forgotten. Twenty graduated in the class and as far as is known, only four have died, and all ¥ live close to Mount Joy or just a few hours’ drive in the - car. Those present at the reunion gathered together early and about noon, the invocation was given by Walter Becker, a member of the class. Following the luncheon, there was time for talking and picture taking. The class members pre- sent were Mrs. Henry Engle, Mrs. Paul Forney, § Mrs. Paul Dick, Mrs. Ray Strickler, Mildred Way, Guy Myers, Fred Diffenderfer, Joe Moore, Walter Becker and Joe Shaeffer. The guests of honor were Dr. and Mrs. D.L. Biemesderfer and Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Flaherty. Dr. Biemesderfer and Mr. Flaherty taught in Mount Joy. Others present were Mr. Henry Engle, Mr. Paul Forney, Mrs. Guy Myers, Mrs. Fred Diffen- derfer, Mrs. Walter Becker, Mrs. Joe Moore, and Mrs. Joe Shaeffer. Those who could not attend because of previous - engagements were John Eshleman, Mrs. Paul Arndt, Mrs. AH. Weidman, Charles Siller and Earl Shaeffer. October 4, 1980 was set for the 55th reunion. The 81 firemen respond at Maytown Fire Co. Maytown, Fire Co. chief Chuck Shaffner reported 6 fire calls for the month of September. In addition, the fire company responded on 3 pump details and 1 public service call. "81 firemen responded to the September calls and the fire company equipment was in service for 12 hours and 7 minutes. 4 fire police assisted on the fire calls. Emergency calls included 1 standby. 4 assists to the Marietta fire company on structure fires and a river search, and 1 response to a vehicle accident. New members accepted for active membership were Marlin Miller, Dennis Shire- man and Ruth McConnell. Don Ebersole was elected to the position of 1st assistant chief, Bob Lively was appointed assitant en- gineer, and Bob Atkins was elected secretary to fill the vacant fire company offices. The November fire com- pany meeting will be held on Monday, November 12th, at 7:00 PM. Yard sale at Goodwill on October 13 The Goodwill Industry Facility at 1048 N. Plum St., Lancaster, will hold a yard sale on Oct. 13th starting at 8:00 in the morning. The sale will celebrate the Obituaries MRS. ISAAC GARMAN Mrs. Emma L. Garman, 84, of RD1 Bainbridge, died last week at home. She had been under the care of a physician. Her husband, Isaac E. Garman, died in 1968. She was born in Conoy Township, a daughter of the late Issah and Fannie Landis Olweiler. She was a member of St. Paul's United Meth- odist Church. Surviving her are two children: C.H. Garman of Elizabethtown, and Mar- garet 1., the wife of Levi S. Ober, RD4 Elizabethtown; a foster son, Lawrence H. Olweiler, RD1 Bainbridge; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Also surviving her are four brothers and sisters: Reuben L., Norristown; Raymond L.; Mary L., the wife of Roland Forwood; and Naomi L., the wife of Abraham Hoffer, all of Elizabethtown. MRS. HENRY MECKLEY Mrs. Goldie Heilig Meck- ley, 80, of 226 E. Main St., Mount Joy, died last week at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness. .. Meckley and Sons Plumbing Co. in Mount Joy. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She is survived by two sons, Jay H. of Lancaster and Robert E. of Mount Joy; two daughters, Helen M., the wife of Baxter Wells, Mount Joy, and Mary Jane, the wife of Daisley A. Young, RD1 Mount Joy; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and three sisters: Barbara, the wife of Carl Germer, Mount Joy; Mrs. Dorothy Downs, Co- lumbia; and Edna, the wife of Edwin L. Blessing, Lancaster. - HARRY McMULLEN Harry D. McMullen, Jr., 59, of Stowe, Mass., and formerly of Marietta, died a week ago at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., following a brief illness. He served as selectman of the town of Stowe, and was active in the Lions Club and the Union Church of Stowe. Mr. McMullen also man- aged a sporting goods store. Surviving him, besides his wife, are a son, David, at home; two daughters, Debra who is the wife of Roger Winn, Groton, Conn., and Kathleen, at home; a grand- daughter; and a brother, Robert, of Florida. He will be intered at - Arlington National Ceme- tery. HOWARD SNOW, SR. Howard E. Snow, Sr., 74, of 460 Atlantic Ave., Lancaster, died last week at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Marietta. He was a son of the late Hezekiah and Josephine Cain Snow, and was the husband of Mary Alexander Snow. He is survived by his wife, a son, Howard E. Snow of Unionville, a daughter, Mrs. Patricia S.
