Council may suggest building by-pass, new bridge Bruce Hamer, Mount Joy Borough Manager, inform- ed Council Monday night that the state of Pennsylvan- ia is planning to spend half a million federal dollars im- proving roads around the state. The state is asking local municipalities for suggestion on how to spend the half million. The Mount Joy Council discussed the possibility Monday night of suggesting the the state that build a by-pass from the Marietta Pike around to Lefever Road and connecting with Route 283. Such a by-pass was proposed over ten years ago in the comprehensive plan for the Donegal area. Council also discussed the possibility of suggesting that the Marietta Avenue bridge over the railroad be repaired. Problems about Regency Apts. Mount Joy Borough Council discussed Monday night various drawbacks that the proposed Regency Apartments for the aged on Route 230 east of the borough, might have. The proposed amendment will forbid barns closer than 100 feet to dwellings or streets. ‘ Olweiler Realty will be told that a sign they put up at their office on West Main Street is ‘in violation of a local ordinance for protrud- ing too far from the building.
