June 20, 1979 Marietta Auxiliary pays off $5000 pledge The Marietta Auxiliary to the Columbia Hospital re- cently presented a check for $1000 to the hospital, completing its pledge of $5000 total donation to the building fund. The pledge, 1974, was made good when Mrs. Mary Sarver of the Auxiliary presented the check to John Metzger, hospital administrator. Mr. Metzger also pulled the winning number (502753) of the hand made quilt lottery. Missy Russell won the quilt. The winning ticket was sold by Ruth Maytown Fire Co. report The Maytown Fire Com- pany responded in the month of May to S emergency calls, 3 work details, 3 public service calls, 2 controlled burnings, and 2 training sessions, for a total of 172 man-hours. 81 men assisted. A special thank you goes to Bill Gilbert and the ladies of our firemen who donated their precious time and materials to get the stands made in WE CAN'T CURE YOU. BUT WE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER. Plans for the next project were discussed. Ruth Miller and Mrs. O’Leana were hostesses for the meeting. The activities will be held on the Maytown Elementary School grounds and will include swimming and swimming lessons, compet- itive sports, arts and crafts, and other games. Emphasis this year will be on improved programming and adequate supervision. Boys and girls ages 6 through 12 are urged to report for registration at the playground Monday, June 25th at 9:00 AM.
