Karen is in the academic course at Donegal, and plans to attend Penn State. Her high school alctivi- ties have been: hockey 9, 10, 11, 12 (captain); Lancaster/Lebanon League All Star 12; Honorable mention 11; basketball 9, 10, 11, 12 (captain); track 9, 10, 11; varsity club 10, 11, 12 (president); class executive committee 10, 11, 12; student council 12; girls’ athletic club 9, 10, 11, 12; Spanish club 9, 10, Karen Albright is girl of month 11; National Honor Society 11, 12; Hispanic Honor Society 10, 11, 12; Delta Mu Sigma outstanding math award 9; 1st place chemistry DHS science fair 11; 3rd place Lancaster County science fair 11; 3rd place chemistry American Chemical Society 11; Amer- ican Chemical Society out- standing chemistry student 11; Rensselaer outstanding math and chemistry stu- dent 11; semi finalist National Merit Scholar, NEDT certificate of merit 10; and Lancaster County Junior Miss scholarship award. Quite a busy young lady! Joe Coover Joe Coover is DHS boy of month Donegal High’s Boy of the Month for December is Joe Coover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Coover of 134 No. High Street, Mount Joy. Joe is active both in and out of school. He plans to attend a trade school upon graduation, preferably Stevens Trade, to study carpentry. At DHS, Joe’s activities are as follows: tennis 10; senior class play; and many musical activities. He has been in the band since 8th grade, and was band president this year. Last year he was in the County Band. He played in the orchestra for Brigadoon and Mirth of a Nation, and was in the stage band the last two years. Joe was listed in Who's Who among American Students. Outside the school halls, he is an usher at St. Mark’s U.M. Church and is in the Youth Fellowship; is a member of Scout Troop #39, and recently earned an Eagle award and became an assistant scout master (also member of Order of the Arrow); he received the God and Country award in 1976; and is a member of the National Rifle Assoc. and the Mount Joy swim team. He likes to camp and hike. Joe has worked as a life saving instructor at the Mack scout reservation, and mowed lawns at Harvestview apartments.
