Page 12 - SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Barb Landis & Mary Kanoff enter Jr. Miss Barbara Landis Barbara Landis and Mary Kanoff, seniors at Donegal High School, are competing in the Lancaster Junior Miss pageant to be staged Saturday, August 28, at Hempfield High School. Barbara is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Landis, R.D.#1, Columbia. She plans to present a french horn solo entitled Mozarts Concerto, for her talent in the competition. Barb was grand champion of Donegal’s Science Fair and a biology winner in 75. She plans to further her education majoring in either chemistry or pre- med. Barb is a member of the band and serves as its historian. She is student council secretary, class treasurer, member of the dramatics club, youth education association, var- sity club, junior play com- mittee and captain of the cheerleading squad. She participates in the Donegal Rangers as a costume de- signer and tomahawk thrower, and is teaching swimming lessons this summer. Mary is the daughter Mary Kanoff of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kanoff, 9 Elizabeth Street, Maytown. She plans to offer a vocal solo ‘‘The Little Damsel,”’ as her talent in the contest. She will be accompanied by her voice instructor Marilyn Miller. Mary is a member of the Donegal chorus and won spots in county, district, and regional choruses this year. An active member of the dramatics, booster, and Spanish clubs, Mary won first place with her essay titled The Declaration of Independence 1776-1976, from the American Legion. She is soccer manager and participated in Donegal productions of Camelot, Mirth of a Nation, and the summer theatre’s Ask Any Girl. She held a part in the Elizabethtown Music Foundations presentation, Sound of Music. Mary is also a member of the National Honor Society and plans to attend Penn State to major in micro-biology. Upon gradu- ation from college, she plans to join the Peace Corps or become a mis- sionary. Why Mt.
