1976 pe t A, 561 May 5, 1976 Five area girls compete Suzanne Mateer The Mount Joy Jaycees and Joycee-ettes have announced that K. Jean Bixler, Karen Greider, Kim Lauver, Suzanne Mateer and Patty Wolf will be contestants in ‘the Miss Mount Joy Scholarship Pageant on May 22 at 8 p.m., at the W. I. Beahm Junior High School Aud- itoruim. K. Jean Bixler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Roy Bixler, 401 South Market Avenue. She is currently a senior at Done- gal High School where she has participated in the Health Careers Club, Dramatics Club, and Junior and Senior Plays. Jean will play the piano for her talent presentation. Karen Greider is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay C. Greider, R.D. #1, Mount Joy. Karen, a senior at Donegal High School, participates in the Spanish Club, Varsity Club, and Student Council. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and was April’s “Girl of the Month”. Karen will present a dance routine in the talent com- petition. Kim Lauver, a 1975 grad- uate of Donegal High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl S. Lauver, 213 Mount Joy Street. Kim is well known for the active participation in all musical programs while she was a student at Donegal. She is presently employed by Donnelly Print- ing and spends her free time taking part in operas and singing in the choir at St. Mark's United Methodist church. Kim's talent pre- sentation will be a vocal selection. Suzanne Mateer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood C. Mateer. A 1974 graduate of Donegal High School, Suzanne is presently a sophomore at York College where she is majoring in businesss management. Her college activites include the tennis team and chorus. She has chosen a vocal present- ation for the talent competi- tion. Patty Wolf is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Rice, 222 West Donegal Street. Patty, a 1974 grad- uate of Donegal High School, is a secretary for the Donegal School District. She is an active member of Trinity Evangelical Con- gregational Church where she participates in senior choir, is president of the youth group, and assistant superintendent of the Sun- day School. Patty will give a dramatic monologue for the talent competition. In addition to the appear- ance of the contestants in talent, evening gown and swimsuit competition and the selection of ‘‘Miss Mount Joy 1976’ the Pageant will feature an appearance by the current “Miss Lancaster County” Gloria Longenecker. Tickets for the Pageant are $2.50 for adults and $1.00 for those 18 and under.
