DHS (continued) [continued from page 1] on a voluntary basis with parental consent and under the supervision of the school nurse. The program has not been completed as yet, and teachers will be contacted as to their feelings about taking part in administering the drug. It was stated that the preventive treatment could be administered more satisfactorily "than a re- medial treatment and at less cost. A district policy for employment and promotions of women and minorities was set by the board and read as follows: ‘‘The Donegal School Board re- cognize that cempetence is the common denominator which qualifies persons for employment regardless ot sex, race, or religious belief. Therefore, the Board directs those persons responsible for recommending prospec- tive employces to evaluate and recommend them solely on the basis of com- petency.”’ The Board also set new rules and regulations for rental of the district build- ings. There was a consider- able rise in the fees due to the rising costs of operation of the schools. Heating and lighting costs have gone up at a tremendous rate and have added to the opera- tions.
