TWO HONORED ATU OF S Two Dallas area University of Scranton graduates were recognized for academic excellence and outstanding service by the university at commencement. Michael Ryan Moleski, of Dallas, received the Excellence in Biochemistry Award. Moleski majored in biochemistry. He is a member of the Health Professions Organization (HPO), chemistry and biology clubs. A graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in biochemistry at The University of Scranton. Elena Marie Habersky, of Dallas, graduated magna cum laude and received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Jordan. She also received the Excellence in International Studies Award from the university. A graduate of Dallas High School, Habersky majored in international studies with minors in philosophy, Arabic and theology and a concentration in peace and justice studies. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (the national honor society for first-year students), Alpha Mu Gamma (the national honor society for foreign languages), Phi Alpha Theta (the national honor society for history), Theta Alpha Kappa (the national honor society for religious studies and theology) and Alpha Sigma Nu (the honor society for Jesuit universities and colleges). She was a member of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program, the Honors Program and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. JONES JOINS LEWITH & FREEMAN Maribeth Jones has joined the Shavertown office of the Lewith & Freeman team. In her new position with Lewith & Freeman, she will continue to sell real estate and provide marketing services to clients. Additionally, she will assist Lewith & Freeman sales members through her position as Vice President of Strategic Planning. Jones brings 34 years of experience in all facets of real estate in the Wyoming Valley, from sales and relocation through all levels of management. A graduate of the Real Estate Institute of Pennsylvania (GRI), Jones is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Residential Broker (CRB) through Realtor’s National Marketing Institute, Chicago. She has owned her own real estate businesses for the past 23 years, most recently serving as an owner and co-owner of Prudential Poggi & Jones for 10 years. She also held the position of Relocation Director with that agency. JACKSON GRADUATES Jill Jackson, daughter of Sandra and Ted Jackson, of Shavertown, graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College in May with a bachelor’s in clinical health sciences. Named to the dean's list for the spring 2013 semester, Jackson was inducted into the Alpha Eta National Allied Health and the Phi Kappa National Honor Societies. She also received the Department of Physical Therapy's Professional Excellence Award given to undergraduates who have exhibited outstanding qualities in the areas of leadership, clinical practice, service and academics. Jackson is currently OVERSET FOLLOWS:serving a physical therapy internship in Casper, Wyoming. She will return to Ithaca College in the fall to begin work on a doctorate in physical therapy, which she plans to receive in 2015. TWO GRADUATE FROM WIDENER Shauna Phillips and Amy Vodzak, both of Dallas, earned degrees from Widener University during the annual commencement ceremony on May 18. Phillips received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and Vodzak received a master of business administration degree in business administration. COPEMAN AT DELAWARE Jolisa Copeman, of Harveys Lake, will join the incoming class of Blue Hens during the University of Delaware's New Student Orientation (NSO) program this summer. Messinger graduated with a bachelor of science in pharmaceutical and healthcare business degree. The son of Dan and jane Messinger, he was a member of the men’s basketball team. NOTHSTEIN GRADUATES FROM POCM Jared Matthew Nothstein, of Dallas, was among 266 graduates awarded the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Philadephia College of Osteopathic Medicine at the college's 122nd commencement He was hooded by his father, a 1986 POCM graduate. A son of Mrs. Mary Ann and Dr. Gary Nothstein, of Dallas, he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Wilkes Univesity in 1009 and will continue his medical training in internal medicine at St. Luke's Univrsity Health Network, Bethlehem. McCARTHY RECEIVES AWARD Kristine Ertley McCarthy, of Dallas, fourth-grade teacher and testing coordinator at Wyoming Seminary Lower School in Forty Fort, received the prestigious Frances and Louis Maslow Award for excellence in teaching during the school’s recent eighth-grade Commencement ceremony. McCarthy received the honor in recognition of her effective teaching, support of the program and ideals of the Lower School and her positive influence on the lives of the students. BOLTON GRADUATES Brieann Bolton of Trucksville, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Childhood Education from Elmire College on June 2. TAMANINI STUDIES IN ITALY Christopher Tamanini, a 2011 graduate of Dallas High School and a current student at Villanova University, recently completed a six-week International Studies curriculum and Global Business Practicum at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. While in Italy, Tamanini visited historic attractions, including the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the wine region of Tuscany, the cities of Florence and Venice, the Statue of David, Saint Mark's Basilica, Giotto's Bell Tower, Basilica di San Miniato,and the Amalfi Coast. Tamanini will enter his junior year at Villanova University in the fall with a double major in Economics and Finance. He is the son of Tim and Sandy Tamanini, of Kingston Township.
