Shavertown student vies for PAI scholarship Amanda Reiser, of Shaver- ing Arts Institute (PAI). town, is one of five high school performers compete in the Musical The- ater Scholarship Gala at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, at Wyoming Seminary Bucking- ham Performing Arts Center on North Sprague Kingston. The students are competing for three scholar- ships to attend Wyoming Seminary’s summer Perform- who will Avenue in A panel of noted judges will determine the scholar- ship winners. The panel includes six-time Emmy Award-winning actor David Canary of ABC’s “All My Children” and Austin Pendle- ton, noted stage, screen and television actor who ap- peared in the TV hit “Hom- icide” as well as in movies such as “My Cousin Vinny” and “A Beautiful Mind" and the original Broadway pro- duction of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Tickets at $20 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens are available in advance or at the door. Tickets are $50 for adults who wish to attend a pre- performance light dinner with David Canary and Aus- tin Pendleton in addition to the show. Proceeds will ben- efit PAI’s Musical Theater Program and will fund three performance scholarships, rewarding three serious stu- dents of musical theater.
