Area 10 May 10 — Andy Solanick broke a 10-10 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as “Tunkhannock edged Wyoming Area. Solanick singled in Will Zaleppa, who hit a one-out single to start the rally. Pitcher Tyler Austin won in unique fashion, starting, then being relieved and coming back to finish the game. Chris Lenivy and Chris Hnatko each had two RBI for the Tigers. Dallas 19, Meyers 15 May 9 — Dallas smacked four homers and 10 extra base hits, but still had to hold on to defeat Meyers. The Mountaineers (6-5) compiled 19 hits, includ- ing 10 for extra bases. Each Dallas player who made it to the plate either scored or knocked in a run while eight-of-10 had a multiple hit game. With a 3-1 lead in the second inning, Dallas used a parade of extra base hits to extend its lead. Gracjan Kraszewski doubled and then scored on a Dave Harding double. Dave Shultz and Eric Samanas fol- lowed with back-to-back shots, both home runs that easily cleared the fence in straight-away center field. Ryan Harvey followed an Adam King single with a two-run jack of his own, and the Mountaineers led 9- 1 after two. After Meyers scored four runs in the top of the third, John Parulski smacked a three-run double that put the Mountaineers up 12-5. Adam King added a solo home run in the sixth to push the lead to 19-10. Parulski picked up the win in relief, striking out five and giving up five runs in 3 2/3 innings. Nanticoke 7, Lake-Lehman 4 May 9 — Matt Kapitula knocked in a pair of runs for the Knights. Brian Cornia had a hit and an RBI GAR 10, Dallas 9 (9 innings) May 5 — GAR prevailed in a game that was close throughout. After Dallas took the lead with two runs in the sec- EE mia ond, GAR scored once each in the third and fourth. Both teams added two runs in the fifth, then the Mounts scored two in the top of the sixth. GAR answered with three in the bottom of the inning, but Dallas scored in the top of the seventh to extend the game. After a scoreless eighth, Dallas went ahead 9-7 in the top of the ninth on RBI singles from Joe Lambert and Ryan Marascio. But GAR responded with three runs to end the game. Noyalis also knocked in all four runs with a home run, dou- ble, and single. Spencer Youngman added a triple while Chris Dillon scored twice. Steven Ruch and Zach Dirsa combined to strike out 12 for the Rangers. Red Sox 6, A's 2 Justin Revera, Ryan Thomas and Greg Selenski sparked a six-run rally in the sixth for the Sox. Golf tournament aids Northwest Little League The Northwest Area Little Leaguewill hold its second annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 11 at the Morgan Hills Golf Course in Hunlock Creek. A shotgun start is slated for 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the league. The format is captain and crew. The cost per person is $55, which includes cart, green fees and a buffet meal.
