Tricia Bump and “Cash or Charged” pose by the trailer they’ll take to the Rodeo (continued from page 7) state competition earlier this month. “It came down to the last run,” she said. “We were in fifth place going in, but we had a really good run and moved up in the standings.” Tricia has been riding horses most of her life thanks to her parents, Dave and Pauline. “My mom and dad gave me a pony for my third birthday and I've been hooked ever since,” she explained. “T've always loved just being around horses, but now I really enjoy the competition.” She got involved in rodeo along with some family members. Her cousin, Ryan Frey of Sweet Valley, competes in bull riding and qualified for nationals a year ago. Another cousin, Jessica Senchak of Sweet Valley, also competes in barrel rac- ing and pole bending on the state circuit. $65/day CALL TODAY for Enjoy ‘Carefree Living and New Beginnings’ “We've been riding horses forever,” Tricia said. “My parents heard about the junior rodeo association and it sounded interesting. Now, it’s all I do besides school. I love it.” As she prepares for nationals, Tricia is setting realistic goals. “There were over 2,000 competitors at nationals last year so it will be very challenging. I'm trying to get my horse in a little better shape and we're just going to try to do our best.” Tricia and her family sleep in their trailer when theyre on the road, but traveling to more than 30 events throughout the season is still costly. If you'd like to make a donation to help defray the costs or advertise on their horse trailer, please contact the Bump family at 333-4035. 1 (TRAE TeV olf oda {-Telu lo) o NH Fit ® [8 & Sicilian Style Pizza, Our Wings & Other Menu Items Eat In Or Take Out! 96-2100 | Perfect Sports camps for kids Penn State W-B As part of the summer youth pro- gram at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, co-ed camps in cheerleading, basketball, vol- leyball, and golf will be available for children of various ages and skill lev- els.
