O'Reilly came out strong in the final period, forging a 50-46 lead on a rebound basket by ciukewicz. Aciukewicz paced O'Reilly with a game-high 23 points, in- cluding a monstrous slam dunk in the third quarter. Junior guard Tim Crossin had 14 points, and senior guard Matt Flanagan added 12 points. O'Reilly didn’t expect to get bombarded by Hannan’s outside shooting, Crossin said. “They didn’t shoot like that when we scouted them against Seton Catholic, but they were hot tonight,” he said. “We knew entering the fourth quarter that we had to step up our game. “We made some defensive ad- justments in the second half. Roslyn Wentko paced Dallas with a game-high 20 points, fol- lowed by Shannon Thomas and Meredith Lacey with 15 points apiece. Honesdale (16-10) played Dallas tough in the first quar- ter, which ended in a 12-12 tie. The Mountaineers took control in the second quarter, taking a 31-18 halftime lead on two bas- kets by Wentko at the end of the period. Lake-Lehman 48, Tunkhannock 45 Feb. 20 — Lizzy Martin scored 18 points, all on three- point shots, as the Black Knights slipped past the host Tigers in a Class 3A game. Sheree Horvath scored eight points and Jess Turak had six. Lake-Lehman led 39-27 at the end of three quarters and had to fend off a late Tunkhannock rally. Connie Ames (14 points), Alissa McMickens (11) and Jes- sica Wildrick (11) paced the Tigers. BOYS BASKETBALL Bishop O’Reilly 73, Susquehanna 37 Feb. 21 — Matt Flanagan scored a game-high 23 points and Tim Crossin tossed in 17 as the Queensmen rolled in quar- terfinal action of the District 2 Class A playoffs. Susquehanna stayed with the Queensmen in the opening minutes, but O'Reilly quickly took charge. Flanagan scored seven consecutive points, put- ting the Queensmen ahead, 17- 8. O'Reilly extended the margin to 30-13 on a Crossin layup, and held an insurmountable 43- 23 lead at halftime. Center Josh Aciukewicz fin- ished with 13 points. Valley View 73, Dallas 59 Feb. 21 — Valley View elimi- nated Dallas in a Class 3A quar- terfinal game at Carbondale Area High School. Matt Wilson led the Mountaineers with 17 points and Robbie Myers scored 16. Matt Kelly and Brad Fagula scored 10 each. Dallas completed its season with a 7-19 record. Abington Heights 55, Tunkhannock 30 Feb. 21 — Abington Heights eliminated Tunkhannock in a Class 4A quarterfinal game at Scranton High School. Kyle Wilson and Colin Hopkins scored nine points each for the Tigers. Tunkhannock completed its ‘season with an 11-14 record. Dallas 60, Wyoming Area 53 Feb. 19 — Sophomore center Robbie Myers scored 26 points and junior forward Matt Wilson produced the game’s biggest defensive play, a steal with 22 seconds remaining, as the Mountaineers defeated Wyoming Area 60-53 in a Dis- trict 2 Class 3A boys basketball playoff game. Dallas led 56-53 when Wilson missed the front end of a 1-and- 1, but as Wyoming Area’s Tyrell George began heading up court with the ball, Wilson found the ball within reach. He plucked it away and scored on a layup for a 58-53 lead with 20 seconds to play. Wilson and Matt Kelly each scored 11 points in the game.
