Lake-Lehman kindergarten registration March 8-10 Lake-Lehman School District will hold kindergarten registra- tion and screening for eligible kindergarten students on March 8, 9, and 10. Lake-Lehman School District policy states that a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2004, and fully immunized in accordance with the latest regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, in order to register for kindergarten for the 2004-2005 school year. Kindergarten in the Lake-Lehman School Dis- trict is an all-day program. Open house March 7 at Penn State Wilkes-Barre High school juniors and sen- iors who are undecided about their future college plans are invited, along with their par- ents, to attend the “Be a Penn Stater This Fall” open house at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The open house will be held on Sunday, March 7, in the Center for Technology beginning at 1 p.m. Applications for admis- sion are still being accepted for fall, 2004 and admissions pro- cedures and criteria will be ex- plained. The open house provides an opportunity to learn about the programs, facilities and re- sources available at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in Lehman. In ad- dition, faculty, admissions counselors and staff will be on hand to discuss associate and baccalaureate degree pro- grams, student activities, ath- letic programs, scholarship op- portunities and financial aid. With the recent addition of two new degree programs, the asso- ciate degree in Nanofabrication Manufacturing Technology and bachelor’s degree in English, location-bound students can now choose from seven associ- ate and seven baccalaureate de- grees that can be completed at the campus. Students may also complete course work for the first two years of most of Penn State’s 160+ degree majors at the cam- pus and then transfer to anoth- er location, including Universi- ty Park, to complete their de- gree. It will involve 164 students from over 40 school dis- tricts. Because of the distance many students must travel to attend this event, housing will be provided by our com- munity for the duration of the festival. Host families are needed for about 120 of the students. Each host family will receive two complimen; afternoon concert. Contact Mary Mounce at 675-9883 for details and to volunteer.
