Coach McCue says Paul brings every- body's game to a new level. “They feed off him,” says the coach about his players. “When he comes out ready to play, everyone else on the team is ready to play too.” Paul says he and his team- mates are good friends and that they hang out together and get along well. Being close on a per- sonal level, says Paul, really helps the team click better on the court. “We're not having the best season so far,” says the captain. “I'd really like to finish the sea- son with a winning record and maybe make a run in the play- offs.” He feels the team improves a little more with each game and that he believes they could see the district finals. Coach McCue knows he will lose a great talent and great per- son at the end of this season, but also knows another team will benefit. “Many local colleges are looking to recruit him,” ex- plains the coach. “And he’s weighing his options right now.” Concluding his praise of Paul McCue rather perfectly, the coach says: “He’s one of the best if not the best that I've ever coached in 20 years of basket- ball.” POST PHOTO/JIM PHILLIPS Dallas coach Pat McCue talked things over with his team Tuesday night. WILCOX Lake-Lehman’s Scott Arnold (right), and Meyers’ Brian Doyle bat- tled in the heavyweight match. Former Lehman coach’s squad meets his mentor .. and match Staff report WILKES-BARRE — After 13 years at Lake-Lehman, Ron Swingle Jr. got a taste of what it's like to be on the other side. Swingle is now the head coach at Meyers, and after his team faced off with the Black Knights last Saturday, he tasted what most of Lehman’s opponents do — defeat. This year’s clash between perennial Class 2A powers lacked the suspense or impact the rivalry has had for more than 20 years as the reloaded Black Knights downed the re- building Mohawks 49-27. Lehman coach Phil Lipski was not all that pleased with the result, despite improving to 8-0 overall and in the WVC. His main gripe was with wrestlers who were pinned by Meyers’ top-three = wrestlers: Wally Geiger (103), Joe Rovelli (152) and Carlo Mercadante (160). Meyers (2-6, 2-5 WV() jumped out to a 15-3 lead (the match started at 189), but Lehman went on a run similar to ‘the ‘one. it used to beat Berwick on Tuesday. Kelby Morgan started things off at 112 with a pin in 3:59, followed by falls from John Houssock (119, 4:54), Jon Schutz (125, 1:00), Andy Jo- suweit (130, 3:49) and Matt Dragon (135, 1:18). After the Black Knights’ Derek White won by forfeit at 140, Jeremy Schutz gave Lehman a com- manding 45-15 lead with a pin in 1:46 at 145.
