12 Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, July 4, 2002 Wyoming Seminary Fifth and Sixth Grade Students Honored in Johns Hopkins Talent Search Students in Wyoming Semi- nary Lower School's fifth and sixth grades received honors in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Talent Search, conducted earlier this year. The Talent Search invites students presently scoring at the 97th percentile or higher on school standardized tests to take addi- tional exams considered to be above-grade level. Penn State Wilkes-Barre announces Open House Nights Penn State Wilkes-Barre will participate in the University- wide “Spend a Summer Evening” open house nights at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 and 17 for recent high school graduates or adults who wish to start or continue their edu- cation. In addition to a variety of baccalaureate and associate degree programs that can be completed at the campus, Penn State Wilkes-Barre offers the first two years of most of the University’s 160+ degree ma- jors. Two new baccalureate degree programs, Letters, Arts, and Sciences and Administration of Justice, were recently initiated at the campus. Other bachelor degree programs include Busi- ness, Information Sciences & Technology, = Surveying, and Electrical Engineering Technol- ogy. Information regarding admis- sions procedures, scholarships and financial aid, academic ad- vising, and career counseling will also be available. Sem students honored in Latin test Seventeen students in Wyoming Seminary Lower School’s eighth grade were win- ners in the National Latin Test, taken earlier this year. Burke named to Mansfield Dean’s List Lana Burke, of Sweet Valley, has been named to the Spring 2002 Dean's List and Presiden- t's List at Mansfield University. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must be attend- ing the university full time and earn at least a 3.50. Of the stu- dents, 122 were also honored by inclusion on the President's List. To receive this honor, a student must attain a perfect 4.0 average for the semester. K( Ki Dallas Middle School Science Club raises plants from seeds The Dallas Middle School Science Club started flowers, vegetables and herbs from seeds in the Plant Room recently, and took care of geraniums and other plants over the winter. The plants will be ready for spring planti- ng in the school’s courtyard.
