The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, October 25, 2001 Old Shoe (continued from page 1) “Like every other rivalry in the area, the close proximity of the schools makes this game big,” said Lehman coach Bob Langan. “All the kids know one another, and that makes it special. It is for bragging rights.” The Black Knights upset the Mountaineers in last year’s game at Dallas, and have turned things around after opening 0-5 with victories over North Pocono, Coughlin, and last week's upset of Wyoming Valley West. “We've eliminated the mis- takes the past few weeks,” said Langan. “The kids have played hard all year, but our schedule is brutal. Nine of the 10 teams ®°" our schedule are playing over .500 ball.” The Mountaineers, on the oth- er hand, are battling for Class AAA playoff position with Pittston Area and West Scran- ton. But Dallas coach Ted Jack- son knows that playing Lehman is more than just another game to help or hurt its seeding in the playoffs. “You can’t take Lehman as an- other game,” said Jackson. “They are playing their best foot- ball of the season, and they make this a big game. “They beat us last year, and we've had to live with that for a whole year.” “They beat us last year, and we've had to live with that for a whole year.” Ted Jackson Dallas head coach While both coaches realize that this is not just any game, both feel it will take executing the basic fundamentals of foot- ball to win. “The team that makes the least mistakes and controls both sides of the ball will have the best chance,” said Jackson. “We will do the same thing we have been doing all season. We will look to run the football, mix in the pass, and play good de- fense.” Langan says his Knights need to find a way to control the ball. “Obviously they are well coached and play great defense,” said Langan. “A key for us will be if we can find a way to move the football. We need to keep the ball out of their hands. “We also need to play good defense. It all starts with defense if you are go- ing to stop Dallas.” - L-L Football Club annual bonfire Oct. 26 The Lake-Lehman Football Club will hold the Annual Bonfire Fri- day, Oct., 26 at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends of players and cheer- leaders are welcome.
