High School graduate and teacher Ruth:May Hazel Wyrsch, 85, of Binghamton, N.Y., and formerly of Huntsville, died December 29, 2000 at Foulk Manor, Wilmington, Del. Born May 8, 1915, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late William and May Bulford Hazel. She was a graduate of Dallas Township High School and Bloomsburg State Teachers Col- lege. Before her marriage, she was an elementary school teacher at the Dallas Township School. After moving to Binghamton, she taught school for many years in the Johnson City Central School Dis- trict, Johnson City, N.Y., retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Bou- levard United Methodist Church, Binghamton, for more than 50 years, the United Methodist Women, the Lydia Circle and the Christian Women's Club. She was a former matron and . 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Johnson City Service Chapter, and a member of the New York State Retired Teach- ers Association. She was a direct descendant of the Rev. Jacob Johnson, who was Wyoming Valley's first settled min- ister in 1772. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank A. Wyrsch. Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Stout, Wilmington; one grandson; and many cousins. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lehman Centre Cemetery, Lehman, with the Rev. She was the old- est living original member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, member of its Altar and Rosary Society, and Mercy Center Auxiliary, Dallas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; and brother, Myron Williams. Surviving are her brothers, Richard E. and Fayette K. Williams, both, of Harveys Lake; nieces and nephews. Former coal miner Joseph Marstell Sr., 70, of West Wyoming, died Dec. 24, 2000 at his home. Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Ashley, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Bloshock) Marstell. He was a miner in local coal mines and worked for Electrolux Co. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph, Jr.; and sister, Lillian Marstell. She was born at Harveys Lake, January 14, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Garfield and Fannie Perrego Jackson. Prior to retiring she was em- ployed by the former Natona Mills, Dallas for 20 years. She was a member of the Alderson United Methodist Church, the Dallas Order of the Eastern Star, several quilting groups and was a charter and honorary member of the Harveys Lake Women's Service Club.
