PA Game Commission notes As a Dispatcher, we receive various types of calls regarding wildlife and we've probably heard them all - until today! February 23, 8:10 a.m.: A gentleman calls from a cell phone and tells me that he has a terrible skunk odor coming from under his vehicle and asked if they are active this time of year. After giving an explana- tion, I said that perhaps the tires had gotten sprayed. He was satisfied and hung up. 10:20 a.m., same man calls back and says ; that the smell is getting stronger. I told him that possibly, the <& muffler /tailpipe got sprayed, and being an oil-based substance, the | hotter the vehicle got, the stronger the odor. 11:10 a.m., third call, he stopped to make a business call and when he got back in the vehicle, quite frustrated, the smell was unbearable. I said. “You had better check, it's possible you have a ride along, maybe on the wheel well, etc.” He made it a point to say I was out of my mind, but I told him that stranger things have happened! 1:30 p.m., guess who? The man went to the car wash, thinking he could get rid of the smell by washing it. He got back in, slammed the door and now it was really bad. He went back to the car wash a second time and as he began to spray the undercarriage, a very large, wet, skunk, ran across the street. Paul, don’t come home ‘till the smell is gone.
