The group will walk in to Game -* Lands 207 on an abandoned rail- "road bed while listening to two local men give a historical per- - spective on the area and the rail- -'road. Stopping at the mouth of .~ the railroad tunnel, we will break «for lunch. Up to this point you will “have walked approximately 2.25 --miles. You have the option of . “.returning to the fire hall for a total walk of 4.5 miles. Or after lunch, ."avid orienteerer Lynn Aldrich will -~take over the hiking portion of the day and guide us from the tunnel ‘out to see a beaver dam, adding one more mile to the total dis- tance. Further still, you can opt to continue on for a vigorous hike up to the ridgetop and stop for a breath-taking view of Wyoming Valley and then forge ahead along the ridgetop out to Route 309 in Fairview Township in Mountaintop. The distance for this version of the hike, fire hall to highway, is approximately seven miles. You can count on learning more about the Back Mountain Regional Land Trust and our work and have an opportunity to make a donation to the Land Trust. The event is free and open to the public. You are asked to bring a beverage and a bag lunch. But keep in mind that you are respon- sible for your own garbage and there are no comfort facilities. Meadows Center honors volunteers The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, recently celebrated National Volunteer Week. Special recognition was given to Eucharistic Ministers from St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown and Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Their visits are an important part of the spiritual lives of residents at the center as these volunteers offer blessings and holy communion on a weekly basis. Since this ministry began in 1991 over 1,000 hours of service has enhanced the lives of Meadows residents. Miseri plans alumni reunion College Misericordia will wel- come its alumni back to campus for its annual three-day alumni Reunion May 21-23. Celebrating reunions this year will be the Golden Reunion of the class of 1949 and the Silver Reunion of the Class of 1974. Highlights of the weekend include a Friday Evening Cabaret, the Alumni As- sociation Annual Board meeting, a workshop on volunteerism, and the annual Alumni Awards Din- ner and Dance. Class luncheons, campus tours, a Memorial Mass, an All-Class Reception and a Nurs- ing Alumni Brunch are also on the schedule. This year’s recipients of the annual Alumni Association Awards also will be announced at the Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 22. Irene Calaide Wisnieski ‘59, of Shavertown, is the recipient of the Hilda Staub Garey Award in recognition of her distinguished service to the College. - She has served on the Alumni Board for many years, serves as class agent and class representative for the Class of 1959, and has been an annual volunteer at Phonathon.
