DALLAS HIGH GUIDANCE NOTES Tips to help with college applications All freshman and sophomores who feel they may be college bound need to sign up for the NEDT test which will be given in mid October at the high school. These tests prepare students for the SAT'’s and can lead to national certifi- cates of merit. Cost is $7 and the deadline for registraton is Oct. 1. See your counselor to register. Our seniors have begun the college application process. To help with this sometimes confus- ing journey we offer several tips: 1. Ifyou haven't done so, sched- ule a senior conference with your counselor. 2. Check out our state of the art computer system - College View. Virtually every school in the country is featured and you can receive admission informa- tion, academic requirements, costs, etc. You do need to make an appointment as College View is in demand. 3. Be sure you receive a copy of our College Admissions Road Map and Talbots Student Planner. Both of these publications are full of useful information and also will give you website details for many colleges. 4. Finally, if you need help, ASK. We are here to make this process as painless as possible. Juniors remember: The PSAT deadline to register is Oct. 1. Cost is $8.50 and checks should be made out to Dallas High School. If you want to do well on your SAT’s, take the PSAT! The SAT form must be post- marked by this Fri., Sept. 26 for all students planning on taking the test here at Dallas on Nov. 1. Two ways to help increase your scores: 1. Sign up for our free SAT Coaching Courses. 2. Pick up your free copy of the most commonly used words on the SAT entitled Hit Parade. The Hit Parade uses a computer to analyze all releasd SAT’s. The words on the list are those most frequently used. One final comment on the SAT's. Congratulations are in order for our students and staff. Our SAT scores on average in- creased over 20 points in verbal and math last year. Back Mountain students serving in Sem's Peer Group Thirty five students at Wyo- ming Seminary, have been named to the school's Peer Group by Karen Klassner, Dean of Students.
