\/ The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Neighbors of fire hall feel jilted by local gov't Editor: I am not a sore loser. My fellow neighbors (28 of them) and I are concerned citizens. The fire com- pany and the zoning board were forced by the high court to abide by the law which dictates side- yard variance. Sore losers try to win at any cost. My neighbors and I chose to follow correct legal avenues while the true sore losers manipulated other laws. Where is the buffer zone re- quired for the parking areas? Ask Mr. Bill McCall, Dallas Township Planning Commission. Does it comply with the law that the rest of the citizens must abide by? Where are your twenty parking spaces? Could any other busi- ness or public building use park- ing spaces that doubled as access ' lanes? Ask College Misericordia why they were required to color code their parking spaces? I did not take a gamble when I purchased my home in a residen- tial area. I expected the public officials to protect my rights as The Post has school year subscriptions The Dallas Post offers special subscriptions for students going away to school or college. Me abiding by the law or you who in your capacity as the township firechief, shows con- tempt for a township resident. I think that your personal attack on me should truly get your mes- sage through to other township residents with real concerns, “Voice your opinion in opposition of what we (the establishment) know is right for you and your neighbors, and you could leave town.” If you don’t like how we have chosen to slant the laws, partner, “move.” Because in this town Might-Makes-Right. You don’t have to watch some spaghetti western to hear those lines being spoken. Just show concern for your rights, and the upholding of zoning laws in Dal- las Township and those ill chosen words will be your reply from the officials in charge. Why then, after submitting a neighborhood petition voicing our concerns about the firehouse lo- THE COTTAGE GIFT & FURNITURE SHOPPE cation, didn’t we bark those same words of advice? Why did we volunteer to raise money for them to find a larger parcel of land to relocate? Why? Because we are not anti-firemen or anti-commu- nity. However, we were forced into a court battle over zoning law. The court upheld the law and we won. Meanwhile back at the ranch, while we were fighting, and focus- ing on the case at hand, our lead- ers slipped the wool over our eyes with a new plan, never mentioned at any zoning board hearing, with more zoning infractions and ille- galities than the original plan. The planning commission passed this plan, and Mr. Kozick issued the permits and the firehouse was off to the races. I guess the sheriff's on the take in this town, better hope for Gary Cooper to come riding .in to set things straight. But if he doesn’t show up, I'll take my chances with the courts.
