To win the Presidential Physical Fitness Award, students must score at or aboVe the 85th percentile on all six fitness tests. Groblewski to attend medical seminar Addie Groblewski, daughter of Robin and Nick Stredny, Jr. and of Mark Groblewski, is now attending a medical seminar. The National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine has invited Addie to attend this 11 day program at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. There Addie will learn about medical care issues, medicine of today, as well as observe operations. The program also includes lectures from professional doctors and visiting medical facilities. Addie will be a senior at Dallas High School in the fall. She is a member of the National Honor Society and two years in a row for Who's Who Among American High School Students. Addie is varsity cheerleader for Dallas. She has also cheered for two years on Junior Varsity, one year on the Middle School squad as well as three years for the Dallas Mini Mounts. After graduation, Addie has intentions of going to college and pursuing a medical career. a Her grandparents are Dr. Tony and Nancy Groblewski and the late Elwood and Mary Alice Whitesell. Ce Leslie Dewees receives honor Leslie Anne Dewees, an eighth grade student at Gate of Heaven School in Dallas was recently honored by the John Hopkins University Institute of Academic Advance- ment of Youth. In their Mathematics and verbal talent search conducted among seventh grade students Leslie re- ceived a State Award for being among the highest scoring participants in the Commonwealth of Penn- sylvania for 1997. She also received a certificate for scoring above the mean for high school seniors on the College Board's SAT 1 Reasoning Test. The award ceremony was held May 3 at Bucknell University. Leslie is the daughter of Fred and Marge Dewees of Dallas. LESLIE DEWEES Lehman-Jackson Art Show Lehman-Jackson Elementary recently had their Art Show at the school. The school’s two art teachers, Mrs. Roese and Mrs. Smith, as well as many PTA members put in tons of time and effort to transform the school into a huge scene from the American Southwest, complete with music and a covered wagon and some even dressing the part. Pictured are “Barrel of Goodies” winners, & Justin Boyer and Rebecca O'Gorman. Prothero graduates from Penn State Valerie Jo Prothero of Dallas, recently graduated from Penn State. She is the daughter of John and Carol Prothero.Valerie was a 1993 graduate of Dallas High School and graduated from Penn State with a major in Chemical Engineering, and a minor in Environmental Engineering.While at Penn State she was a four year member of PSU's marching Blue Band in which she played the mellophone. Valerie participated in the Rose, Fiesta, Citrus and Outback Bowl games and parades. Valerie will pursue a master's degree in the fall at Penn State. Valerie is employed by Carpenter Technology of Reading, PA.
